Very Good Book
This book was not only informative but very entertaining! I started with Logo Design Fundamentals and started drawing logos. And that was a great intro book. But I needed to go deeper. So because I had a free trial with Kindle Unlimited, I started searching for more books on logo design and came across this gem! The cover is what drew me to this book, so I started reading it and ended up purchasing it because I love how James explains the business side of things, most importantly, the processes which are very important. Thank you Made By James!

It’s more of a motivation book rather than design
But the examples given are pretty good and I love the design of the book itself. Also, as a fresh designer I needed that boost of motivation. Don’t know if it’s useful for more seasoned designers, but it’s definitely useful for beginners like myself.

Amazing book
I’m 36 years old, have a bachelors degree in political science that I never used. I’m an artist, who has spent the majority of my adult life paying the bills as a bartender, working in construction, and selling weed (Legally in CA!). I was struggling to find my passion (in a career oriented sense) until I went back to school for graphic design at the strong encouragement of my friends who love my mixed media art and told me that I could apply my skills into graphic design and get paid. I’ve been working freelance, designing logos and shirts etc, and this book helped me tremendously in terms of career guidance. I don’t really have any mentors in my town who are graphic designers. I’ve been searching for someone to sit down with me and really help me get a grasp on what it takes to actually make a living as a designer. THIS BOOK IS THAT MENTOR. It has been a tremendous inspiration. Although I’m still working soul crushing late night hours as bartender at a college night club I am building up my freelance portfolio and hope to find work at a design agency soon. I think about the lessons I learned from this book everyday. Thank you James. And if you are looking for an intern to work remote from CA! Hit me up

Every designer should have this book.
This book rocks. When I stumbled across James' IG feed a few years ago I was tickled to see him working with a pencil and paper for idea generation. (This was how I was taught in school too.) I immediately became a fan.Even though I don't do much design these days I HAD to get his book. I found it to be thoughtful, uplifting, informative, honest and motivating. It's chock full of great design and business advice. Since the events of 2020 (that can't be mentioned) forced us indoors, I found myself disorganized with my time, in a bit of a funk, and constantly 'working.' The section that discusses schedule really hit home for me. Weird? Maybe. But it has been impactful for me. I find myself emulating his schedule and it has CHANGED my mornings. Of course, that is a small section of the book. He discusses his process, shares incredible work studies, and more. It is all GOLD. It will be a book I continually refer back to for sage advice and inspiration. This fellow is a true talent and one of my favorite designers. If you're on the fence about purchasing - just do it. You'll be glad you did.
