I bought this to replace an old mechanical one. Because with my new bifocals I could not see it. I was pleasantly surprised, the voice on it was nice, although I turned it off because I need to weigh my self all hours and I have a roommate. Unlike some other digital scales it seems to be quite accurate. I tried it three times in a row and got exactly the same. the large red display is readable even without my glasses. And finally it does not use any specialty batteries, either AAs or AAAs I don't remember. Might even be able to use rechargeable batteries?

This was exactly what I was looking for. The base is solid and the voice clear. If you can see the numbers, they are large and bright. Highly recommend!
