Works/looks good but you get what you pay for.
First off, you get what you pay for. These are about a third of the price of some other hard bags. They look good and are finished well. The drawbacks are that they are not what I would call heavy duty. The walls of the bags are about the same thickness as a 5 gallon bucket and might be made of the same material. The hinges and latches fit very well but seem fragile. It uses a piece of stretchy rubber as a retention device so the lids don't open to far. I don't see them lasting very long. Bottom line is that they look good and will function fine but I will have to be somewhat gentle on them. They made sense for me to put on my old motorcycle rather than spend 500-1000 dollars on a name brand set. BTW I added the luggage racks myself. They do not come with those.

Overall pleased
Bought these for my 2001 Dyna Low Rider. Installed today. First thing first. I did not expect to have to go to the store and get bolts, nuts and washers for where the brackets mount to the bike on the back fender. That is partly why the whole process took me all day to complete. Since I was already getting bolts, I decided to also get some rubber washers, lock nuts and extra washers to ensure that things are cushioned and so that there would be no chance of bolts coming loose. (Highly recommend). The instructions that come included with these bags are not the best. I recommend watching a YouTube video of of someone else installing them before beginning. The quality of the bags is not bad. I’m pleased with the new latches that they come with now as you can secure them closed without having to lock them. The mounts are as good as I could have asked for. I decided to cut off the end of the rear mounts with a cutting disc on either side as they stick out below/ behind the bag and that was not aesthetically pleasing. ( Again, they’re universal and this is diy. ) I’d recommend them for any bike close to the size of the Dynas or smaller. For the money, I’m happy. We’ll see how they hold up.

Worth it
Have had the bags for a whole season and have ridden about 3500 miles with them at high speeds and low speeds and they have help up well for the price. I would get again. Not the biggest bags on the market but I like it so it give the bike a nice trim look inside of heavy in the back end. Easy to install with basic tools and yes you have to drill your own holes and align everything you self. Nice part you can put them as high or low as you want

Greaty bags for those of us who like to do our own installations.
I'm a DIY type so I liked the fact that these bags didn't have any predrilled holes, since I already have a set of my own design saddlebag mounts. They are a replacement I decided to purchase for the smaller hard bags made by the same company. I decided the medium sized bags just weren't big enough and they had some hinge and lock issues I didn't care for and I'm wishing I had purchased these from the beginning because they fit my bike much better and the locking mechanism and hinges are a lot better. They look really good on my Customized XV700 Yamaha and being black, they are a perfect match to my bike. While some may balk at "plastic" bags, my experience with the medium bags has been that it's pretty tough material that maintains a nice shine. All in all these are very good low cost bags for bikers on a budget and they look really good.

2002 Yamaha V Star 650
What I liked was they look good and can fit a half shel helmet plus more inside. The locks on them are good quality and look good too. What I didn’t like was the lack of direction you have for installation, as well as the cheap plastic it’s made from. You get what you pay for with these bags. They are definitely not for heavy duty applications but overall they work for what I needed them for.

look great painted
Only problem I have is that the locks and locking mechanism are EXTREMELY CHEAP AND MICKY MOUSE Update the bags are starting to tear themselves apart from the vibration.

If you're interested in an upgrade on a budget- you've come to the right place
I would have given them 5 stars- but I just got them and still need to test the durability. First take is these bags are just what I wanted for my V Star 1100. Obviously not a high end upgrade ( plastic seems sturdy but is thin) but definitely will be worth the investment if time proves them roadworthy. They are truly "universal" .. I'm only moderately mechanically inclined but was able to install them to my existing stock saddlebag mounts with only a few improvised modifications. Only took less than an hour. I've gotten compliments on the stylish look of the bags and people are surprised they didn't cost more. They look like a stock hard bag you would find on a moderately priced bike. As long as they can take the everyday wear and tear that is to come -if someone wants hard bags that dont cost $400- $500 ( these are not that level of quality) I'll be recommending what I purchased...1 year later UPDATE OCTOBER 5 2019-they still look good. bags are durable too! Good value!
