It's probably familiarity, but this is much better than a madeleine because it's stable on the plate. It's simple and easier than pulling out the food processor. It even fits in my knife drawer. I imagine it would be very easy to cut yourself if you aren't used to it. I'd suggest no-cut-gloves. It does come with a pusher (which I don't use).

I have had 2 of these slicers during my 55 years of marriage. The first slicer I received last week had a frozen blade. The replacement slicer arrived 3 days later and works perfectly.I highly recommend this product!
