Warm. loose fit. good length wool t-shirt
This t-shirt will keep me warm as an under layer. It's a bit loose for my fit. I'm 5'11" / 170 lbs. I prefer a more tuck fit. It is however long enough to cover my lower back when I bend forward, which is useful come this winter.

These are great shirtsz
Excellent - perfect weight. Fit is great too, slimmer (especially in sleeves) than it looks on models in most of the pics.

I love it
Has a nice soft feel to it and no nylon or polyester. It feels warm when it’s cold and cool when it’s hot. I’ll be buying a couple more. I’ve purchased a couple more.

Tested for a PNW winter camping & BWCA Trip!
Bought this in Dec 2023 specifically used as a based layer for outdoor activities. Wore this for a 6 days 5 nights winter camping trip to Pacific Northwest, and recently for a 6 days 5 nights trip to BWCA trip in October. The shirt keeps me cool during the warm weather up to upper 70s, and keeps me warm in cold weather in the 30s, no stinky smells for both trips and a single shirt lasted me for the duration of the entire outing without having to change. Recommends this if you are looking for an affordable alternative for a wool t-shirt. However a small hole starts forming on the underside of sleeve near seam during the second trip, will see how durable this t-shirt is.

I love wool
Amazing quality for the price. I am used to seeing wool tees for $70-100 so this was definitely a nice surprise. For fit reference I am 6”1’ 160lbs with an athletic build and the small size fits me very well.

Oh well…….
The runs small, worse after washing (air dryer). This is my 5th Merino wool T, and my least fav.I will not be able to wear this summer. A total waste of money (for me).I DO NOT recommend

The idea wool can be cooler than cotton simply seemed counterintuitive. Wrong. It's better.
Having never experienced desert conditions, prior to a recent trip attending a wedding in Saudi Arabia I researched t-shirts that scored highest with respect to keeping cool. This compelled me to perform an experiment by purchasing two different highest-scoring wool t-shirt brands (because wool as a cooling solution simply seemed counterintuitive to me). Here’s my review for this Merino Protect base layer t-shirt.First, and foremost, I’ll start at the end and point out this shirt was not only the lower-priced of the two, the other shirt’s price skyrocketed from $47 at the time of the purchase to now (only a month later) $74 while (at the time of this review) this Merino Protect shirt is still available at $38 and is a best deal in my humble opinion. And that leads to point number 2:Yes, cotton and polyester t-shirts are easily available at half the price or less. However, I could never have worn a cotton or polyester t-shirt after walking around in Saudi Arabian afternoon sun without an odorous finish. Amazingly, this wasn’t this case for either of these two wool shirts purchased and tested on this wedding trip. In fact, that afternoon walk was the day after having worn this shirt as my base layer during the entire 20 travel hours of driving, flight, and layover time. Even my wife exclaimed surprise at how the shirt remained nearly odorless at the end of the second day in the Saudi sun.Benefit #3 is how well this shirt keeps its shape. After hand washing both and placing both on hangers to dry, the other higher-priced shirt ended up with a stretched shoulder on one side. This Merino Protect held up just fine. Lesson learned, BTW, as I now lay these flat to dry (hangers not recommended). My only complaint has much to do with why my wife calls me “dangerous” when eating. Something liquidy landed on this shirt (gray color) and though I initially drenched the dime-sized spot with water and then a couple of hours later hand washed the shirt with extra emphasis on the stain spot, an echo of the spot remains. So what did I do as a result? I just placed two more of these shirts on my wish list promising my wife never to eat while wearing them without also wearing a bib.Wool is now my hot weather solution from now on. Who would have thunk it?UPDATE 05/31/24:My wife playfully (but accurately) often refers to me as her eight year old because of my tendency to destroy things (especially nice clothes). So, and as reported above, I gave it a try around this time last year and went out of my way to behave more like a responsible sixty-something whilst wearing it. I'm astonished not only at its performance in terms of enduring a decent amount of wear since then, I'm now truly convinced merino wool is, indeed, not only the way to go with respect to warm weather apparel and such things as odor management, etc., it continues to look great IMHO. So I just purchased another one and out of the box it fits and looks great, too. Thumbs up for this true value of a product. No need to hesitate with this one.
