Plug-and-Play Performance — Rock Solid for All My Devices
I bought the TRENDnet 8-Port 2.5G switch along with some Cat8 Ethernet cables, and it’s been excellent from the start. It worked right out of the box — no setup or configuration needed. I’ve got 8 different devices connected to it, including security cameras, streaming devices, and my gaming setup, and everything runs smooth with zero lag or glitches. The build quality is solid, and I really appreciate that it’s fanless — completely silent in my setup. The 2.5G speed is a great upgrade over standard gigabit, especially since it works with existing Cat5e and above cabling. The switch has handled everything I’ve thrown at it without even blinking. If you’re looking to expand your wired network with faster speeds and hassle-free setup, this switch is a great choice. Highly recommend it for both home and small office use.

Fantastic 2.5GB switch at a great price!
I replaced four of my 1Gb switches with these TrendNet 2.5Gb 8 8-port switches. My internet is 2.5Gb so I wanted to take advantage of the speed on the devices that could exceed 1Gbps. After installation, I did a speed test and all my capable devices are now getting maximum throughput. Swapping the old 1Gbps switches for the new 2.5Gbps switches was basically plug-and-play. I put the new switches on top of the old ones. Then, one by one, I pulled the Ethernet cables out of the old switch and plugged them into the new one. Everything just worked out of the gate. The Trendnet switches are competitively priced and work as advertised. Five stars met all expectations

Full Speed, No Issues
Although 2.5G switches are still a bit expensive, this one is priced well and is works great with no issues. Testing the throughput showed the full 2.5G with no dips or drops. It up/down links to other switches fine. There is no hum or coil whine. It only gets slightly warm, not anywhere near as hot as a cable gateway or Wifi router. The construction is solid with a metal housing and both mounting holes and rubber feet on the bottom. There are no flashy colors or logos. One thing I particularly like is that the network, LED, and power plug are on the same side. Cheaper switches have the power plug on the front, which would making cabling look messy. 9/10

It gets hot
This thing gets hot but it sustains the 2.5GbE continuously. All devices connected are 2.5GbE or 5GbE and sustained traffic has not dipped in this last year of use. Update after another 18 months (2.5 years of 2.5GBe) - This thing runs very hot even at minimum load. Just bought an Asus and it runs cool under load. I think this is just technology evolving, but keep in mind, buying this in 2026, it is the same product as it was in 2023 and I would NOT advise leaving this in a cabinet. It needs passive airflow, runs hot-to-the-touch.

Worth the price!
These work great. I have CAT6 Ethernet run to every room in my home and now have 6 of these switches. I get pings of <1ms and TTL=64 with Jumbo Frames enabled. Not much to add, they are a good buy.

Work great. Run a little hot, but cool enough.

Non-blocking backplane
I replaced two gigabit switches with two of these which I use to extend my wired network in my home office. I had recently upgraded to a gigabit internet service and found that my internal network was bottle necked. I did not want to completely rewire the network so I purchased these 2.5 Gbit switches in hopes that they would resolve the issue. They did and I was able to reuse the existing cat5e cable. I am now averaging between 600Mbps to 920Mbps (depending on time of day and usage load) for both download and upload. Latency is increased due to the number of switches between my main PC and the router but still averages between 2 and 7 ms. The faster switches help to reduce that latency.

Great power efficient and cool alternative to Netgear MS308.
I was typically a prossafe Netgear person exclusively, but after doing some research these were actually closer to what I was used to with Netgear's gigabit models, as I was used to silent cool and power efficient operation. The newer MS308 gets rather hit and is a bit more power hungry as well. So far I'm happy with it, although I will note that the ports are slightly smaller/have a tighter tolerance, and the cables I made using a particular end would fit fine in most ports of other devices with no issue, but we're extremely hard to jam into these ports. I'm going to guess not an issue for most users a bit still possible to be an issue depending on what ends you have and the tolerances.

dont know what is "gaming" about it. gives proper 2.5Gbps per port, keeps barely warm, silent.

Excellent switch without any configuration just plug and play as described with 2.5g

It feels solidly built, and the performance is great. There is not really a lot of heat generated either, and it just sits there nicely in my rack all day doing exactly what it needs to do and nothing more.

Por ahora funciona perfectamente. No hay cortes de tráfico como si pasa con el QNAP de 2.5 Gb de 5 puertos (QSW-1105-5T). Por ahora funciona muy bien y muy estable. Ya veremos con el paso de los meses de uso.

I got this particular version (version v2.0R) of the switch as I was made aware that it consumes less power than the previous versions. The only place to get a switch like this is to import it from America so I purchased from Amazon US and it took about a week to arrive. The power supply that came with it obviously has the American plug prongs on it but it is easily replace by ones that fit in the desktop Netgear switches (which I happened to have a few). It was just a case of plug and play and then my NAS and my Mac Mini could communicate at the faster 2.5Gb to the rest of my devices. It works well and while it does feel a little warm while in use, it was nothing to be concerned about.
