Is it tested on animals????

Ivory brand does test on animals. That said I looked it up and the bar soap was Introduced, 1879; 141 years ago and is unchanged since then. That long ago I doubt it was tested on anything or anyone and I cannot imagine they are doing any testing now (yup, still cleans?!?) on this product.

Is ivory soap made with lye?

The quick & easy answer, no soap can't be made w/o lye. To make soap it requires at least a strong alkaline base/lye + a fatty acid/vegtable oil or animal fats. What takes place when mixing these ingredients is called the saponification process, a chemical reaction between an acid and a base to form a salt/soap.I have used Ivory soap for more than 50 yrs. Is this soap suitable for shaving? And will it dry out my skin? Currently using an expensive shave soap just trying to find a cheaper alternative

Yes, Ivory Soap is suitable for shaving. I use it whenever I shave instead of the more expensive shaving creams or lotions. I recommend using a good shaving brush. Also, use it while in the shower---it will not dry out your skin.

why can't i subscribe to this every 3 months?
