Make it Snappy Tools Plug Cutter, 1/2"

it is doing the job. after quiet many plugs I made with the bit and a drill press I needed to sharpen the bit then I kept working, no problem.

Plugs are created with ease. the tool is well worth the money

Very dissapointed in this cutter. The large end of the taper should be about .025 larger than the nominal 1/2 in as is standard for well designed cutters. This cutter is only 0.12 larger and just barely fills the hole and is certainly not a "tight fit with no glue needed" as stated in the description. I took measurements on a plug cut into white oak using a drill press and a picture showing the result is attached.Also occasionally when drilling many plugs to cut out later a plug will break loose and require one to stop, remove the plug and start again.

It arrived yesterday and I tried it today.It burned through the wood leaving the plug black on the outside and of course could not use the plugs because they leave a black ring.It was to replace my 5 year old 1/2" plug cutter that had been used thousands of times but with so many sharpenings over the years it needed ti be replaced . I used it on the same drill press at the same speed as my previous plug cutter. If anyone knows a source for a better quality one please post a link to it. Of course things like this cannot be returned after a person cuts open the blister pack and tries it out only to find it is a dud. I wasted my time and money on this one . I had to post one star because it wouldn't let me post zero .

The cutter stayed sharp after a couple hundred plugs from dried ash lumber .

Working well so far. Plugs are the correct size and cutter is still sharp after cutting 50 out or walnut and oak.
