East install and very sturdy. Use your own galvanized lag bolts and washers to mount it to the post. You can see in the photos is lag bolted the arm to the post into the wood and did the same on the back. I slipped it over a 4x4 post and then cut the top even with the post. I threw the mounting hardware away that came in the kit. The mounting hardware for the mailbox however was stainless steel screws and good quality. I love how it turned out and highly recommend this post.

I’ve been looking for a new mailbox and this far exceeded my expectation for a stand. It comes with everything you need and is the perfect post for a mailbox. Although the mailbox doesn’t come included, it’s a perfect price point for a stand and seems as though it’ll last a long time. The instructions were easy to understand and install was quick and painless (if you already had a 4x4 in the ground). I’d recommend this mailbox post to anyone! *I would caution though that this same brand of mailbox I would not recommend (door doesn’t stay shut and moves all over the place even when it’s screwed into the base)

The post was easy to install, and it looks great. Contrary to others who mention misalignment in the pre-drilled holes, I didn't have that problem. I ran the 4x4 the whole length of the metal post, drilling holes for the spacers it brings to attach the mailbox horizontal arm. Be aware though the screws it brings to attach this metal post to the wood 4x4 you need to use, are no bueno. I stripped two of those before I realized I'd had been better off buying different ones at the hardware store. Other than that, I'm very happy with the purchase.

I liked the finished product. It looks nice in the ground. What I didn't like was the assembly. I went through 4 of these posts and on every single one, the arm or shelf the mailbox sits on didn't screw securely onto the post. It came with two long bolts, two spacers, some washers and some hex nuts to secure the shelf to the post. The problem was the bolts were too long, by 1/4". You put the bolts through the spacers and then through the holes of the post and then through the holes in the shelf. Then on the ends of the bolts you screw on the hex nuts they provided. The hex nuts would only screw on so far and no farther. There should have been a tight, secure fit but as I said the bolts were 1/4" longer than they needed to be so after you screwed on the hex nuts they provided there was no tight fit which caused the shelf to wobble around the post. I got some additional 1/4" hex nuts and fixed the problem but for $104, why should I have had to have done anything? Also, one of the spacers was too long because when they drilled the holes into the post at the factory, they didn't smooth them out and there was so much metal sticking up inside one of the holes, the spacer they provided was too long. Fortunately, when my old mailbox was dug up, I found a spacer in the dirt pile that was a little shorter and that's the one I used for the new mailbox. This should have and could have been an easy assembly but it wasn't. Either they should have made the long, black bolts shorter or put different hex nuts in there to secure the shelf to the post. And they should've shaved off the excess metal on the inside of the holes.
