Handy Little Multi-Tool!
This unit got me out of a pinch. PoE powered om the WAN port and the very low power draw allowed me to get a purpose-placed wireless AP at a gate nearly 700 feet up a driveway to a gate (a couple of Poe powered switches as hops to acheive this, but it all handshaked at gigabit) and all through a single Ethernet run.Recommendations to get up and running quickly using this unit as an AP connected to an existing LAN (Local Area Network). -- Connect to it via the LAN interface with a laptop, configure your wireless settings (you will be promoyed to update the firmware of the unit DO IT!, Nice job GL.i for keeping your hardware up to date)-- next, slide the switch to the bridged position and give it a couple minutes. You now have an AP that will connect to your network and get IP addresses on your existing local network.

The idea that you can have your own private wireless and VPN is a great idea at a hotel
Doesn't work. I am a fairly technical person and understand networking to some extent. Found this travel router to be a pain to setup and use. The idea that you can have your own private wireless and VPN is a great idea at a hotel; however this router has a few problems. It keeps losing connection. Secondly, I needed to do a full reset (painful process of 30-30-30 secs pressing the reset button and releasing while powered and off) to get the wireless to show up. This process is also part of a very technical documentation that an end user will just not understand. I guess the good reviews are either fake or by someone within the circle of the manufacturer (just check the profiles of the reviewers). Unfortunately, as much as I hate to return to Amazon, I have to do it. Sheer waste of many hours over couple of days.

Excellent OpenWRT travel router!
Great router, runs OpenWRT perfectly. Although I prefer stock OpenWRT, the default firmware is also packed with tons of great features like OpenVPN support, and much much more. The hardware itself is solid and can be used for a wide array of applications, and with exposed GPIO pins the router is perfect for any DIY projects. Would suggest for anyone looking for a great portable router thats made to run OpenWRT.

Cheap - You get what you pay for
Very cheaply made (well... you always get what you pay for) and kind of complicated to setup, unless you have advanced IT skills. I was able to set it up, but a regular user wouldn't be able to easily do it.The device stopped working after 3 uses. The power port went bad after that.I bought another device, a bit more expensive but it works.Don't waste your money on this one.

Truly Remarkable
Coolest thing for me was POE. Default is on WAN port, but fortunately it's easy to move to LAN port (swap the physical interfaces eth0/eth1 in OpenWrt LuCI "advanced settings" web interface). Was then quick to get running in various WAN uplink modes: Repeater-WISP (both "normal" WiFi and a Verizon Android smartphone "hotspot"), USB tethered from Verizon Android smartphone (and it charges the phone!), and cabled Ethernet. Devices connected to it's WiFi would tend to sleep and then fallback to some other known SSID, but this needs more testing. Ethernet LAN devices were solid. Don't expect a ton of throughput on its wireless capabilities because it's only N150 (cut in half as a repeater). But in the right room-based applications, this thing is really capable. I was also pleased that it reboots very quickly from config changes and factory resets.

This is genuinely one of my favorite purchases from Amazon
This is genuinely one of my favorite purchases from Amazon. Everything just works -- and I was surprised by how many features are packed into this little box. I especially love that the router supports OpenVPN.I highly recommend buying this, even if you don't have any practical use for it, it's extremely cool to tinker with!

Lots of features
This router has a lot of features for its size. It runs Linux inside so you can set up pretty much anything on it.

Super Teil

Great functionality, but lacking UI
I purchased the GL-AR150 as a travel router so my girlfriend and I could play Stardew Valley while we travel overseas.I feel it definitely ticks all the right boxes, but for the moment, I don't necessarily utilise all of the features that it offers, such as VPN.From a security standpoint, it does appear that the travel router will make me more comfortable doing banking while I'm overseas once I set up VPN but I do have some gripes. The UI is extremely simplistic. On one hand, it's easy to find everything, on the other, there are things like missing WiFi networks, and USB tethering is spotty at best (in my experience, yours may vary).Overall, it's a good value buy, but I wish it were a little cheaper. A UI overhaul would definitely propel this product to a must-have for any frequent traveller.

guter OpenWRT POE-AccessPoint/Router
