Thank you for your question. For floor and roof installation, we always recommend Siless 80 mil first and then Siless Liner 157 mil on the top of it.

Q: Will this work on the underside of the car as a heat barrier/shield from the exhaust

I think the foam would melt or burn and get too hot if it was real close to the exhaust pipe underneath the car. probably wouldnt stick well to the dirty underside anyway. However, if you apply it on the inside of car body above the exhaust area you will lessen the flow of heat (and noise) into the interior. You can also apply several layers to increase the R value.

It is 157 Mil 37.5 Sqft. Yes, you could cut it into one or two inch strips. It has self adhesive side, and you can install it around a 3" tube. It is not easy to scratch it, but everything depends on the environment where you install it.
