Port A Cool MOTOR-012-04E 16" HD, FC, VT 3-SPD MOTOR

I have a 16" Porta Cool with 3 speed motor. This is now the third motor on this unit + one each switch assembly @ $122. The coolers look great, work great until they don't. When I replaced the last motor and during replacement of this motor, I sealed the motor with Silicone. My internal electrical box is also sealed with silicone. The motor sets just in front of the evaporator pads and pulls the cool, MOIST air through the pads and over the motor on the way out the front. This is great EXCEPT for all the MOISTURE/WATER that goes right over the motor. Either the motors are junk or the design just doesn't work. For a $1200 cooler, seems that I shouldn't have to replace motors annually. Add to this, everything inside is a rust heap. The metal electrical distribution box is rusted, the motor support (powder coated from the factory) is rusted and almost in need of replacing. Don't the Porta-Cool engineers know that powder coating in this type of environment doesn't work and metal electrical boxes are going to rust?

I bought this motor about a month ago to replace the original that was 15 years old. I just got around to installing it in my portacool unit 2 weeks ago yesterday. It worked exceptionally well at first. At around 3pm yesterday 7/29/21. It went up in smoke. Just like that. Went from working very well, to not at all. In a puff of smoke. Luckily, I was there when it happened. I hate to think what could have happened to my business if I weren't there at the time it had it's meltdown. I will update this review after I see how Amazon handles the issue. For now. Don't waste your money on this motor. It is no where near the quality of the original motors.

Exact replacement, worked as advertised, customer service was great, price was definitely lower than anyone else's and they ordered it drop shipped from Port A Cool, so I know it is OEM. I have nothing but kudos for that. But the price was still outrageous, and my last motor didn't even last 3 years. I hope that was a defect and that this extremely expensive replacement lasts a lot longer so I can get my money's worth.

Got this as a used motor but was only bumped around in the box. Straightened the cover to the capacitor and it’s like new. Fits and runs excellent! The heat in south MS is unbearable, my portacool is a lifesaver!

OEM motor. Works great.

installed motor, it lasted 2 hours then burnt up.......
