Extech44550 Pocket Humidity/Temperature Pen, Green

I use this to check the fridge I am drying salami. This works great for temp and humidity!

I have used this instrument for several years and am happy with it.Pros:- Inexpensive- Easy to use- Battery lasts long- Very easy to carry anywhereCons:- The sensors take a while to reach the actual measurement, it is not well suited to take very quick measurements- The buttons protrude from the case, so they do get pressed while the instrument is in your pocket or with other things. It ends up turning on by itself easily (See picture).

This instrument is wildly variable and inaccurate, and extremely slow to respond. If you don't mind waiting 4-5 minutes for the temperature readout to stabilize, and readings that are off in some cases by at least 10 degrees F, then this is a hell of a bargain. If you value accuracy and rapid response, look elsewhere.

As a Mechanical Engineer working in the HVAC industry, I am constantly trying to analyze performance of system. Part of this analysis is to measure temperatures and humidity in areas. This little pocket temp/humidity pen is the perfect tool. It's accurate and quick. The price was good also.I recommend this to anyone who needs an inexpensive tool to measure room temperature and relative humidity.

When I received the item, it worked extremely well and held up for a couple of days while I worked. Then the thing just died on me. Tried replacing the batteries and that didn't work. I returned it to Amazon in lieu of a better, more advanced model.

Needed a temperature/humidity meter that I could use with my moisture meter for initial site assessments after water damage. Bought this one because it was cheap and readily available. My two issues with it: 1) it turns on (and stays on) while in the case because the buttons are really sensitive, so sometimes it is out of batteries when I have hardly used it; 2) the clip in the back snaps off pretty much the first time you try and clip it to anything. But it does what it needs to and works as anticipated. I just have to keep extra batteries in the case.

I had received one of these Humidity/Temperature Pens while attending a science workshop a few years ago. I use it a lot now to measure our outside humidity and temperature to determine whether to open windows or turn on the AC. Although my three measurement pens do not agree with each other exactly, I factor that difference in when I measure. They are amazingly fast to measure.

I purchased this product to use in conjunction with dew-point charts. The buttons operate easily and the pen gathers the temperature and relative humidity quickly, although I've questioned the results more than once. The body is durable but the sensor in the tip of my pen is loose and contacts the sides--which may not be typical. The little replaceable watch battery only lasted about five months with hardly any use. Despite the weaker aspects, I think the tool works fine for gathering information in which a larger degree of error is tolerable.

Works well and seems pretty accurate, just hard to read the small dark screen.

it takes a very long time to measure the temperature, but it works accurately and is convenient.

Very slow in reacting to temperature change, compared it to a UEI PDT550 thermometer,this meter is about 2 min behind,eventually they do match in temp but very slow!! As for the humidity,this meter is reading 47% RH,weather network is reporting 70%, I would assume the weather network is correct as it feels like it is high humidity. Dissapointed as I can't rely on the humidity readings (mostly why i purchased it)
