The size was as I expected. The durability, so far, is good. It looks good in my kitchen. The small unit sits well on the counter in the garage.

This product works as advertised. I gave it 5 stars because I’m able to turn the activation mode on or off. This is helpful when you have a lot of people and animal traffic walking past it. Otherwise, it is sensitive and the waste can lid opens and closed more than you would want! The shape and size of the trash can are the average kitchen size. The can fits well under my kitchen counter so it can be out of the way. The sides of the can aren’t very thick, allowing it to be light weight, but it can be dented easily, it is durable providing you care for it. I like the fact that it came with a second smaller can for the bathroom. The lid keeps the bathroom waste discreet, opens easily without touching it, great for sanitation purposes!

I bought this item to replace a kitchen trash bucket I have had for 20 years. The only reason I was replacing it was our city requires trash to be in city-mandated bags, and they keep getting smaller. Those bags no longer fit my bucket, so I needed a new one. I also wanted a receptacle that was easier to clean and does not stain. My old one was of heavy duty plastic, and tomato sauce left an ugly stain so it does not look clean. So far, this automatic one, which runs off batteries so does not need a nearby outlet, works fantastic. I do love the hands-off feature. You do have to shut off the auto feature in order to change out the bags, and there is a small learning curve for installing the bags if you do not want them to show. Other than that, I highly recommend.

UPDATE - The company did reach out and gave us some instructions on resetting the automatic lid. Those instructions worked and the unit is working great again. Customer service was very helpful. We have purchased two of these. We loved the trash can itself but our first one quit working after about 1 1/2 years. Since we were happy with it, we decided to try another one and bought it at the end of May of this year. It has already quit working. We have cleaned the sensor and changed the batteries but it is broken just like the first one. It will not automatically open anymore. The light just flickers. Very annoying that it didn't last. I have contacted the company but received a message that they moved and they sent a new email to use. I then sent a message to that email but did not get a response. It goes without saying that we won't purchase a Ninestar trash can again. As mentioned, it was a good trash can while it worked but it shouldn't need to be replaced so often.

I finally replaced a 25+ year old 13gal push-button plastic trash can in my kitchen. After all those years, the button was a little sensitive; plus opening it for something like coffee grounds always required wiping the lid after. I didn't want my trash can in the open kitchen floor. This was the second one I tried; the first wouldn't work in the pantry. I found the "sweet spot" for this one in the pantry is 3" from the door. It does tap the bottom shelf a little when it opens, but it opens when I want it to & closes when I'm done, regardless of whether the door is open or closed. After the new trash cans arrived, when my daughter came over, I handed her something & asked her to throw it in the trash while I watched from the office. She opened the pantry, bent to toss it & asked "How does it close?"; I told her it would close by itself because of the motion sensor. Hours later I opened the pantry & saw the lid still open. I PMed her "You pushed the button, didn't you?". She had. So I made a quick video to show her how it works; it's attached here. I thought the smaller can was going to replace the wastebasket in my home office, but I chose to put it in the garage to replace the old pedal can that never seemed to open as much as I wanted it to.

I absolutely love these trash cans! The motion sensor works perfectly and makes throwing things away so easy and hygienic. The stainless steel design looks modern and elegant in my kitchen and bathroom. The combo of the large and small bin is super convenient. Great quality and totally worth it! Quit working after less than a year and half. Message to manufacturer, plastic gears don't last long! I used to build and repair aircraft instruments.

Fonctionne très bien, le couvercle ouvre très rapidement et reste ouvert tant que vous êtes en mouvement au dessus. Deux bonnes grandeurs une pour la cuisine et l’autre pour le bureau ou la salle de bain. Fabriqué en inox de bonne qualité fonctionnent avec de gosses batterie DD. Je vous les recommande car c’est un produit qui a une bonne durée de vie du à c’est composantes haut de gamme.

El deposito de la basura es amplio y la tapa también, tiene un mecanismo de apagado para cambiar la bolsa, se quita la tapa completamente y la bolsa se guarda con una pieza que quedó alrededor para que quede oculta NOTA: la descripción dice que usa pilas c y d, MENTIRA! los dos usan 3 y 2 pilas c/u tipo "C" atención con eso. CONTENIDO: 2 Botes Grande 67.56 cm alto Chico 29.21 cm alto CONCLUSION: Quede muy satisfecho, lo recomiendo y compraría de nuevo

I use the small under the sink for compost and large for kitchen garbage. Works great, no complaints so far. Love the plastic ring it comes with so I can wrap the edges of the bag around it and tuck inside so the top of the bag doesn’t hang out over the bin. I’ve been using for a few weeks now and still using original batteries I bought, Energizer. You can’t use rechargeable which is disappointing but I guess realistically they wouldn’t be powerful enough and would likely hurt the mechanism over time. I wouldn’t recommend cheap batteries for same reason. Worth paying for decent long life batteries. I bought these after we got for our office kitchen and bathroom and I really liked them.
