6 or 7 months ago I ran across this book and instantly felt the need to read it, unfortunately (as would be my luck) there was no Kindle version. So there I was... watching it taunt me from my wish list until finally I decided to put my big girl panties on and actually purchase the physical book. This final shove into adulthood however, did not come without reservation, after 7 months of updated comments and crap reviews, I was a little bit doubtful of how good it was actually going to be.Of course... I had to judge for myself, and I'm glad I did.See, there is this newly formed phenomenon called the "Meyer's Effect" it rears its ugly little head anytime a YA novel is released and spouts the now daunting words "Vampire" and "Romance." Regardless of the premise or plot intentions of the book, people are automatically inclined to compare and contrast it to the "Twilight" series. Please people, for the love of all that is holy, you have to stop doing this."Eternal" was fantastic in an entirely NEW way. The story follows 2 lead characters, Miranda, who due to no fault of her own ends up a vampire, and Zachary, her guardian angel, whom...coincidentally is the reason she is now guzzling blood instead of Sprite.Zachary, overwhelmed by guilt and self pity turns to a life of drinking and partying, that is... until his boss, Archangel Michael, sends him on a mission.Save Miranda...and save yourself. The story is a wonderful journey of determination and the ability to maintain free will, regardless of your current circumstances. The writing was a tad choppy in places (mostly the beginning) but once the plot was in full swing, I hardly even noticed. I will make it very clear though that I thought the ending was brilliant and fitting, I don't see how softening it would have done the characters any justice. (Trust me when I say this was a matter of much debate in the previously mentioned reviews.)There were personalized coffins complete with Nascar emblems, 1 serving of maid tongue, a vampire debutant ball, holy water dunking tanks for those who misspeak, the nosiest father on the planet, and one hell of a killer battle scene. If you like vampires...and you like sarcastic pissy fallen angels...buy the book you will enjoy it. But if you are looking for a smattering of romance and heartfelt speeches, better luck next time, cause this is not for you.Happy reading my fellow Eternals and remember: cherubs aren't angels, they are just fat little short dudes with curly hair.

Page Turner! Must Read!
Miranda is a normal teenage girl. She's an unpopular dreamer with ambitions to be an actress. She surprises everyone she knows with trying out for a school play, "Romeo and Juliet" but being a shy and timid girl, she doesn't make the cut. While she wonders at her failure, little does she know that a secret admire is watching her. Zachery is Miranda's guardian angel. He is a relatively young angel who enjoys "pushing the envelope" of his guardianship. While he's watched Miranda grow from the baby he was assigned to, to a blossoming young lady, he realizes his feelings for her are more than that of a mere guardian and makes it his priority that Miranda live and escape the hands of death that are threatening her life. But his actions have consequences they both must suffer. He is bound to earth and stripped of his angelic persona while Miranda is thrown into the depts of a "hell on earth."While the novel is considered a "young adult" book, I found it to be a very intersting read indeed. The action never seems to faulter but at the same time it is not overdone. Smith knows her readers and with a dash of romance, a little adventure, horror and mayhem, she spins a web of interest that will inevitably keep you bound to this book from beginning to end.

Cool concept .... but.....
I just couldn't get into this book. When I started reading it I noticed that I really liked the idea of going back and forth between the 2 main characters and I liked the guardian angel aspect of the story but that's about it. It was sooo sloooow. Not a whole lot happened until the last couple of chapters and that's the only reason that I was able to give this 3 stars. It was 3 stars for the last part of the book. Have a big 'ol caffinated drink by your side to read this one!

Interesting read
I quite enjoyed this book, it was a different take on the whole vampire/angel premise.Ill give you a brief synopsis.Zachary is a guardian angel, he has been watching over 17 yr old Miranda since birth, and against all the rules has fallen in love with her.One night Miranda and her BFF Lucy go to a local cemetery and meet a guy that Lucy has a crush on.This unfortunately doesn't bode well for Miranda who is kidnapped and turned into a Vampire by Dracula and turned into a royal princess of the vampire court.Zachary who failed to prevent this, has his angelic powers stripped away from him by the Archangel Michael, and is given a mission by his angel friend Joshua that maybe will give him redemption and his angelic powers back. This mission reunites Zachary and Miranda and the book goes into the sometimes very harsh brutalities of what being a Vampire actually is.Its barbaric at times, quite violent but at the same time, very sweet and heroic.I enjoyed it, read it in 2 sittings over a period of a few days. Its not the best book ive ever read by a long shot but if your a fan of the paranormal its a good way to while away a few hours.

Unbelievably bad!
The read was simply amazingly boring and even stupid to the point that you ask yourself what kind of a publisher can seriously imagine to make a profit out of this "innovative creativity"?!The story has no depth at all,it makes you imagine that the author just decided to write whatever got into het mind without any sort of research or any logical thinking. This is the most predictable, stupid chain of events that i have ever come across!I really hope that the author AND the publisher will not make the same mistake and continue with the next volume, as the novel(a bit too much of a word for this stupidity, sorry!)is a total trash!
