This is truly a very nice upgrade over the AQ Evergreen version of this type of cable. I had used the Evergreen happily for the past nine months with the AQ Dragonfly DAC between my PC running JRiver and my Yamaha RX-A710 AVR connected to B&W 685 speakers (via AQ X-2 speaker wire) and a REL T5 subwoofer. Most of my music files are ripped from CD in dBPoweramp to lossless and uncompressed FLAC files, along with some 24-bit downloads from HD Tracks and Acoustic Sounds (converted to uncompressed). I have a huge Amazon MP3 library but strongly prefer the higher quality FLAC format available elsewhere. When I got the Evergreen cable last year, I was very impressed with how much better it sounded than the six dollar cable I had from Radio Shack a few years back. Well, now I'm thrilled to say the Big Sur just blows away the Evergreen. Seriously, this was another one of those priceless "I never heard these details in my music" moments, which get increasingly difficult to achieve unless you've got a ton of cash lying around. I didn't really consider the next level up for another hundred dollars, Sydney, because I'm not sure if my amp and speakers would really be revealing enough to justify the cable expense. I did A/B testing between the two cables for my wife, as well, and she immediately noticed how much better the Big Sur cable performed. She's not the audiophile I am, but she thought the money was well spent on such a clear improvement. Until about a year ago, I was highly skeptical of just how much difference a pricey AQ cable would make over a decent Monster cable, but from direct personal experience, I can say that the ones I’ve tried so far do indeed. I recently got some AQ Forest Ethernet cables to run between my NAS and my music server / HTPC to my main audio system (different room / setup), somewhat doubtful that they would do much, but they made such a noticeable difference that I now plan to replace them with higher quality Cinnamon Ethernet cables in the near future and re-use the cheaper Forest ones elsewhere. FWIW - I also got two AQ Jitterbugs to try in my Dragonfly/Evergreen/Big Sur setup, and while they most certainly altered the sound, we mutually chose not to use them based on many A/B tests with both the Evergreen and Big Sur cables. Unexpectedly, audio quality was like two steps forward and three steps back, so ultimately the cons outweighed the pros. I'm quickly gathering from early reviews that the Jitterbug may be more or less useful in a given setup or application, so YMMV. However, I have a couple other scenarios elsewhere in the house to try so I haven't given up completely in finding a use for the Jitterbugs. As for Big Sur, it’s a major winner. Give it a try and trust your ears!!!

While this did provide a very slight (and hardly noticeable) improvement to treble frequencies over my Belkin 3.5mm to rca cable (which itself is apparently very good quality), I really don’t think it’s worth the comparatively high cost. This was surprising given the great experiences I’ve had with other (albeit unrelated) Audioquest cables (Carbon USB and Rocket 22), which while expensive, more than justified their cost.

I'm an audiophile, but I always found Audioquest cables really overrated based on my hifi experiences from years ago. Recently I'm playing around with head-fi on my PC setup and wanted to try some better cable to feed my Violectric DHA v590 v2 from my PC. And to put it short, I'm actually flabbergasted how good this cable is, it transformed my PC setup. I was about to sell off my pretty expensive Violectric due to a dull sounding experience on my Sennheiser HD600. Then I recently found out the DAC on my motherboard sounds way better then the DAC build in the Violectric. And this cable made my PC sound even better, for both both music and gaming this cable is a real treat, I'm really amazed. I expected this cable to be returned quite soon, but that is not gonna happen!
