Cheers to the FMC
I’m not a huge werewolf/shifter fan, but I thought this book was pretty decent. I really appreciate that the female character actually stays strong and doesn’t just give in to the MMC just because he’s hot and goes all alpha (literally). The book definitely lacks some depth and was a little cheesy; in my unprofessional opinion. However, it was enjoyable for the genre and I gave it 4 stars for delivering characters that were pretty good and a female that actually lived up to the ‘strong type’ character. Well played.

Spellbinding storytelling hindered by disjointed plot
Gemma, an extraordinary anomaly among wolf shifters, conceals her true identity as the only known female alpha beside the revered Luna Goddess herself. Despite her guise as a demure omega, she burns with an unyielding love for Ryker, sensing their fated bond, even as he remains oblivious to her hidden strength.Ryker, privy to Gemma's alpha status, comprehends the peril it entails. Despite his mutual affection, he chooses to safeguard her by maintaining a distance, a decision that ignites a fiery turmoil within them both. After enduring years of silent longing and confronting suspicions of Ryker's faithlessness, Gemma confronts him, only to find her worst fears confirmed. Betrayed and heartbroken, she flees, seeking refuge in a town governed by vampires, where she rebuilds her life in secrecy, under a cloak of shadows.Yet, destiny refuses to be denied as Ryker emerges once more, determined to reclaim his mate. But Gemma, wounded by past rejections, stands her ground, her resolve hardened against his entreaties. As danger lurks in the shadows, Ryker remains steadfast in his determination to protect her, unraveling hidden truths that threaten to shake their world to its core. While the book's prose enchants with its fervor, the erratic timeline in its latter chapters detracts from its overall impact, leaving crucial plot points feeling hurried and unresolved. The writer's oversight in weaving together important plot details, particularly those related to the climax and antagonists, results in a disjointed narrative that fails to align with earlier revelations. This discrepancy not only diminishes the tension and stakes but also undermines the reader's investment in the story's resolution. As a result, what could have been a gripping conclusion falls short of its potential, leaving readers longing for a more cohesive and satisfying resolution to the intricate web of conflicts established throughout the tale.

wolf mates meets plotting parents
This book has a fast paced and engaging story. Girl is mislead, takes off and starts a new life. Boy is trying to protect her and the others around him. Poor communication and pride lead to a year long problem. The story pops in after the year and shows their first few days together and the couple getting back on track. Still a few reasonable issues to be resolved but it doesn’t feel like the author is dragging things out, just letting them develop.

Communication and not leading people on is key
While I really liked this story I can kinda see and understand the issues some of the critical reviews brought up. Communication and respect is key in any relationship and in this one that key was thrown right into the ocean.Despite being a bit apprehensive about this book due to the points the fore mentioned reviews brought up the synopsis of being rejected by her mate in front of the pack was too juicy to pass up and I’m happy I didn’t. In the beginning of the story the only issue I had was the alphas less than clever and way too on the nose last name, Wolfson. Everything else though pulled me into the drama immediately with Trish and the confrontation, running away and just the general exposition of the world with supes. I live for drama after all and the plot points that were used along with a second romantic interest (Aleks) popping into the picture just made the story juicer and juicer, with the high point being the reunion with the alpha. After that the book was still good but I came to be a bit annoyed with the sort of going places in the drama and relationship but still somehow trampling in the same place. The arguments were great but became a bit … not repetitive per say, but it kind of felt that way since it didn’t lead to anything being revealed about why she was rejected or his feelings of her. The fact that the whole plot was built on an issue that would have been so easily solved if they just honestly communicated with each other made their arguments and struggles kind of unnecessary. I mean, yeah. Real life issues are often due to bad communication and misunderstandings but in this case they danced around the subject so much while still not getting anywhere that it just became unbelievable.Another issue I had was the lead herself. While I get that she was an alpha and therefore was supposed to be a bit edgy and confident her attitude bordered on bitchy and even crossed that line at some points. I was especially annoyed with her leading Aleks on, in my opinion at least. I mean, while she did tell him honestly that she wasn’t interested in him, the fact that she stayed really close friends and kept living with him, even going on what essentially could classify as a date and using him to make Ryker jealous. Well, that’s just cruel since it was getting his hopes up for her to fall for him and leading him on if you ask me. The kind and friendly thing to do would have been for her to distance herself from him as soon as she found out about his feelings, which means also moving out and not go on “dates” with him so his feelings could start to fade without her there to disrupt that. But I digress.Overall, this was a likable book with a lot of drama to keep me hooked. The only thing that could have made me give the story a higher rating really is some more depth to perhaps fix the above mentioned issues so they weren’t so glaringly there. It also would have made the villain speech of “this is why I’m doing this, mums the word” not needed and could perhaps also have given Aleks a bit more room and reason to fall in love with Gem instead of making it an insta love. As it is I give the story 3.5 stars.

wow
Ok so to start off the naming of the vein killed me 😂 it also killed me that at first she thought Ryker choose another omega(which she isn’t) but not the point. This book was a roller coaster of emotions and I thought I would end up hating Ryker the entire book! Good thing I don’t because he needs to grovel a little more. The slow burn was perfectly done and I love it! Off to read the next book

Way to much unnecessary details
The book could have still had a great story and plot without so much detail. It was an overkill. I like that the fmc has a funny sarcastic personality just wished it could have been toned back with all the extra.

not bad
This was a pretty good rejected mate read. I really wish it was a why choose and she could have both. You’ll know what I mean once you start reading. Can’t wait to read more.

Great start of what should be a good series!
I loved it. I found some of the setup of the plot a bit hard to understand but it eventually made sense. I think the fight scenes could have used more developing but the characters and love scenes were good. A good read, moved along nicely, and just interesting enough to not want to out it down! ♥️

Frustrating
People!! Sit down and talk, please!!!It was frustrating for the most part of the book having them near each other but not confronting or demanding answers from each other! The plot it’s amazing but sweet Gem got on my nerves.Always running for gods sake!I’m the type of person who goes straight for the jugular for the answers that are owed to me, so when a character avoids at all costs to know the truth, really pisses me off.Hiding at first I understand, but after all this time still not wanting to clear the situation it’s like masochism.I was so damn frustrated!

Don’t let negative reviews put you off!!! It’s a good story
First this book has so many negative reviews it’s ridiculous, and the reasons seem to be unfounded. I read this book fairly quickly and have to say I enjoyed it. It has a good storyline, the plot is interesting and has lots of angst. We have a good female lead and a hot male lead. Both of which have their own stories but once the two collide as the bigger picture becomes clear, it makes for a brilliant series. I didn’t really notice many grammatical errors, which was what some reviews stated, and although Gem’s inner dialogue did go over things which could be seen as repetition, it’s actually quite realistic to what we’d do if in the same position she was in.I thought Gem was a good character who after being what she saw as betrayed took matters into her own hands, unfortunately there are other hands at work which we don’t know about as yet, not until Ryker finally gets his chance to tell her the truth. Until then we have a nail biting story, with some banter, some hot moments, and lots of angst to set the scene. I wouldn’t turn away from this read because of some negative reviews as it’s definitely worth the read.
