this is well built and looks nice. the hole goes all the way through so so can lower the flag if needed. i put tape on it before tightening it so I wouldn’t scratch the aluminum.

This was exactly what i was looking for. A quick release when parking my UTV in the garage. It slips right in and all you need to do is hand tighten and your whip will not work loose during a ride. When you want to take it out, it comes out as easy as it goes in. I love it and would highly recommend for anyone who uses a non lighted whip.

I bought this for my safety flag on my RZR. I wanted a way to take my flag off and put it on easily. This allows me to do that. It is very sturdy and I like the choice of colors.

Bought two of these and not what I was hoping for. Getting the UTV in the garage, or through low tunnels, requires removing the flag. This was advertised as an item that could do this quickly and easily. Saw the ads showing that even a 10 year could do it. However, when I put my flag pole in and twisted, it would not tighten sufficient to secure the pole. Just not possible to apply enough torque to close the clamp on the pole. As tight as I could go by hand, the flag was still loose enough that it slipped down, so no chance I would trust it to drive anywhere. And really wanted to go for a ride. My solution was to add an appendage. I drilled and tapped for a 1/4-20 bolt and tightened it in place with about an inch protruding. This allowed for me to get another quarter turn, enough to actually secure the pole in place. Will tinker with the second one to see if opening up the notch inside would allow the clamp to more easily tighten. If not, at least I will be able to modify it, but really disappointed that it is needed.

It's easy to insert flag pole and it holds it securely with just hand tightening; but, since it has a hex shape, a wrench can help tighten more if you need to. Large, standard, ½ inch size makes it easy to secure the quick-release base to any flat surface. Mounting it only required drilling a ½" hole in the aluminum bar stock. A lock nut is included, but I added some Loctite Blue for good measure. As seen in my picture, I created a mount location on the side rail of my unused OEM roof rack. It's so out of the way that I can still use the roof rack if I have a need. Since this point is 6' high, I now only need a 3' flag pole, so it won't create much stress on the holder, but I'll update if I have any problems.
