Useless design software = useless printer! DO NOT BUY!
Don't buy! The software is absolute garbage. Useless and cheap design software. You can tell they just wanted to hurry up production to sell these paperweights. Do NOT waste your time or money. The software sucks and it's useless without the design software.

We shopped around for a cheaper but good ID printer! This one works well and the printer ribbon last a long time. Program is also easy to use.

hard to find replacement ribbon!
print quality is gorgeous, the down side to this particular smart-21 model is that i can't find the ribbon to be bought by itself, we're a small group and use the rfid cards for electronic doors and the only ribbon refill option currently available has a bundled pack of 100 pvc cards we don't need. it also seems to be limited to 100 prints per roll of ribbon. and amazon doesn't seem to sell the right model directly searching the website is a tad confusing as well. giving several ribbon options with little details and no links to actually buy them. initially bought the wrong ribbon despite the box labeling saying the same thing except the code sticker, which also isn't clearly labelled that it's for the smart-31 or smart-51 printers, but the ribbon that it came with does say S21 COLOR Ribbon. also using the diagnostic software that came with the device, it acknowledges the new ribbon as full with 250 prints but then the printer fails when trying which would be a lot less confusing if it simply said that the ribbon has an error or that it's the wrong type. support was very responsive and helpful with all of the information presented and directed me to the wrong ribbon issue. aside from the supplies issue and confusing labeling (the bottom sticker even has smart31 in some areas) the printer is simple, easy, and fast. we were able to create a fillable pdf in the size and orientation of the card to quickly make new badges whenever needed without worrying about accidental design or word placement changes.

A great printer
This is a great ID printer, used for our small private school. Quality pictures, quality plants, and worth the money you will spend on it.

BAD QUALITY
Bad quality and the ribbon is so hard to replace. I’m still trying to return it it broke after printing only 50 cards

Use it for 130 cards and then it broke... for nothing? I can't have support. ALso, it is complicated to buy the ribbon. Don't purchase it.
