Works great. No more wine headaches.

I love the concept and on ‘test’ I find that I feel far better the following day after sharing a couple of bottles of red, than I do if I don’t use this. No stomach or head ache. Now this may be the case for a couple of bottles over an evening but the makers are clear this is about removing those chemicals that effect many, not a miracle cure for hangovers, but I do believe it does remove the groggyness I get the morning after. Now this does come at a price. The filter is not cheap in the first place and the cost of additional filters works out to be around £2 per bottle (although can stretch one to 2 bottles if in the same evening). Worth it? Probably but if the filters were half the cost I feel people would use more. Happy with the purchase? Yes and if you are someone who really suffers when drinking red, this will help.

I can now enjoy my wine without the headache and nausea feeling from the harmful chemicals in any wine. Easy to use. You just need a little patience to pour the wine through filter. It’s slow. So worth it.

I gave up drinking wine many years back due to headache-inducing sulfites and hormonal woes. Wanting some relief and mind-numbing escape from the ridiculous pandemic restrictions (self-employed and lost my business), I decided to try wine again after discovering ULLO. They are wonderful. Already have the regular Ullo. I now keep my bottles in a 58-60 degree F wine fridge, which is good for reds, but not quite cold enough for my Chardonnays. And the regular refrigerator is a bit TOO cold for a full-bodied white. This one came to the rescue for my impatient self. Now I don’t have to wait for a bottle to chill or warm up and can drink my fav wine whenever the mood strikes. Lowers the temp 10 degrees—about 50 F is perfect for most Chardonnays. Don’t let the reviews from supposed “experts” deter you. These filters bind artificial sulfites. Both my husband and I can tell a huge difference if we forget our filters or drops (for outings). I am more affected by sulfites than he is—but he can still tell the difference. We now belong to several local wine clubs as we live in wine country and I am thrilled to be able to enjoy good wine, again. Neither of us can detect any difference in flavor and we have done several before/after taste tests. One filter is good for one bottle. My husband has tried pushing to two bottles (without telling me) and I ended up with a bad headache. Lesson learned. You can rinse and refrigerate the filter to use next day, if you don’t drink a whole bottle in one sitting. We usually grab a bottle to share and filter into each glass as we drink, rather than filtering and decanting the whole bottle at once. Aerates nicely, too. We typically don’t turn it to the aerate line, only because for most of our wines, not necessary. The process of filtering alone provides some aeration on the way into the glass as it streams out. Highly recommend. Yes, it adds a little bit to the cost of a bottle of wine, but very much worth it. If you are sulfite-sensitive like me, it is a matter of being able to drink wine or not. Simple solution. There is a sulfite-binding spritzer made by a different company, which I keep in my purse for going out—as carrying around a filter and apparatus is cumbersome. We use SO2GO. We did try an alternate, cheaper brand thinking they are all the same. They are not. The other stuff didn’t work at all so we went back to our original. Again, being able to drink wine again is worth the extra cost. Thank you Ullo!
