worth it
I've been using this with an inexpensive temperature monitor for my hvac system. I'm pleasantly surprised. It is solidly built and is giving me great accuracy.

Works with Joe's racing Pyrometer 54005
Works with Joe's racing Pyrometer 54005 The Joe's racing probe started to glitch out. And they want like $100 for a new one. Almost as much as a whole new unit. This one works fine, same numbers as the Joe's racing probe (when the old probe worked) Only complaint is there is no setting for adjusting how much of the probe is poking out Minor nitpick.

Great replacement probe for Thermoworks ThermaQ
This works great on my ThemaQ and a more reasonable price than the ridicoulsly high price Thermoworks is asking.

Useful information about alignment and tyre pressure
This probe (in conjunction with any of the multitude of compatible meters) makes it possible to measure the temperature of the rubber in a tyre. I am not a racer, but I wanted to find out how my tyres were wearing before they actually wore. Tyres wear because of friction with the road, and friction generates heat. If the tyres are getting hotter than necessary then they are wearing more than necessary. Typically as soon as I arrive home after a long drive I measure the temperature of the tread of each tyre near the inside, in the centre and near the outside. Ideally, all 12 readings should be very similar. If the inside and outside are higher than the centre then the tyre pressure is probably too low. If the centre is higher than the inside and outside then the tyre pressure is probably too high. If just the inside front temperatures are higher than all the other temperatures then there is probably a problem with toe-in. If the inside is high, the outside low, and the centre in between, then suspect camber. Readings stabilise within a few seconds, so it is possible to take all 12 measurements before the tyres cool off significantly. The nice thing about this kind of pyrometer (compared to an infrared thermometer) is that it measures the temperature under the surface of the tread, which retains its temperature much longer than the surface. This pyrometer has a fixed pin that penetrates about 5mm into the rubber. I have seen others in which the penetration depth is adjustable, but 5mm seems a good choice (deep enough to get away from surface temperature anomalies, but not so deep that it is hard to insert or in danger of puncturing the tyre). I have only had mine for a few days, so I can't speak for durability yet, but so far I am very happy.

Extremely durable
I bought this two years ago to use in my smoker. I can't say for hi-temp applications but in my experience cooking at a maximum of 500° F (260° C) I have had no issues with this probe. Braiding is in-tact, no fraying at all around the probe end. The connector side, however has frayed multiple times and needed to cut back and re-install to the plug which is not a big deal since the plug is servicable. Broke one of my first probe wires from closing in the smoker door and never had another issue since installing the grommets. Came back on here to buy a second one as a back-up. Would definitely recommend.

Seems to be pretty accurate. Using to get temperature of water (with my Fluke 52II) for making bread. Need to get the water in the 100-110F range for the yeast. This works well since the line can be wrapped around the tea kettle's handle and made to hold position suspended in the water for getting the temperature. Tested with another thermometer unit, but accuracy wasn't as good. I trust my Fluke 52II to be more accurate than the other one. The other is used more for when I run the Keg-A-Q to get the cook chamber temperature.

I must have gotten a dud
Besides the response time being pretty slow, the one I received was not accurate. I connected it to an Inkbird temperature controller to test the temp of an electric oven. It worked erratically. I put it in boiling waster to test it and it indicated 97.5 deg C (207.5 F) at close to sea level. I compared it to a more expensive TC, and it indicated 99.6 deg C (211.28 F), an acceptable margin of error. I would have used the one I had, but it isn't heat resistant. Looks like it is going in the trash since I missed the return window.

Für meine Anwendung also Top!
