Works Perfectly.

I am using this kind of filter since 2009. We have a house in the Dominican Republic.The water we drink comes from an river, gets pumped up to the roof imto a tank and then we have a doulton countertop filter that uses this cartridge. We clean the cartrige every 5 weeks and change it more or less every 8 months. The manufacturer recommends every 6 months but that depends on the amount of filtering you do.Here some suggestions after almost 15 years with this system:1. when you change the cartridge, put some chlorine into the hole where you screw this cartridge in, and let it in there for about 2 minutes. so you are sure you have a clean system from the cartridge to where the filtered water comes out.2. you can clean the outside of this ceramic cartridge with a soft brush or dish sponge. but when you do it, either you keep it screwed in, so no bacteria gets from the cartridge into the hole where the cartridge was stewed in, or you do the same steps as described in point one. Be very careful with that cleaning step. wear gloves because wha is on the filter is not only particles but also bacteria.3. Very important: when you cleaned or replaced the cartridge, you have to fill the covering that goes over the cartridge with water, otherwise the air will impede filtering. so you have to hold the whole system upside down and screw the covering filled with water over the cartridge.I hope that helps ;-)

We use it in a Doulton stainless countertop model, and it works great, lasting a long time. Though we're on city water supply, periodic cleaning is still needed. A relatively easy scrubbing with a non-abrasive scrub pad works perfectly. You know it needs cleaning when outflow is noticeably reduced.

The local water is heavily chlorinated and tastes yucky. This ceramic and carbon filter cleans up that chlorine and the water tastes great. Be aware that the flow rate is significantly reduced but, for me, the clean taste is a game winner. Doulton is the best.👍👍👍

The early delivery was most acceptable. I followed the installation instructions having fitted them before. Pity there isn’t a large O-Ring supplied for the outer chamber. Unfortunately When used I was left with a dry mouth for a while. Overall the filter is the best I have tried.

Was glad to see these come on Amazon. I have been buying them for over twenty years (from vendors now within Amazon's network) for use in our homes in developing countries, testing the output for biological, heavy metal and organic bad stuff along the way. Always clean, safe and good tasting water. I've known British Berkefield, the original company, now acquired by Doulton, since living in West Africa, as a kid, some fifty years ago.We now have very clean well water at our current developing country house, so the candles stay clean and unclogged. Downside is that you forget to check and replace, probably losing the carbon and silver effects over time. However, if your water supply is really gross, as we've seen elsewhere, you'll notice the pressure loss and find the foul sludge when you open the canister to clean the element. That's a good thing: it reminds you why you bought the filter in the first place and why you shouldn't trust local tap water anywhere else.I periodically go online to see if any of the new competitors does something better. So far, nothing convincing. Doulton and predecessor still appear to be the gold standard. I would, nonetheless, recommend upgrading the countertop faucet that comes with the standard under counter package. One of ours is showing signs unreliability after, what,15 years?
