Great Info - Makes it easy to understand and put to use
As a Pilates and DNS trainer I have found this book absolutely invaluable as to explaining how to optimally use our bodies in exercise and helping clients. All of Dr. Osar’s info (in this book and his blogs and videos) do the best job I’ve found of explaining concepts that I hope will soon be adopted by all branches of physical training education. I’ve used it to reference when working with challenging cases and have had incredible results and the clients wanting to know more about what I did that worked so well. I do workshops for public (ie. for low back pain, hip pain or neck and shoulder pain patterns) and referencing Dr. Osar’s visuals and descriptions always helps to make the information digestible and clients feel the difference more clearly in their bodies. Thus, I highly recommend this book for anyone teaching any kind of exercise (including Physical Therapists) or for manual therapists to understand more about how the body works and how we can more quickly and easily identify dysfunctions and how we can create lasting results for our clients to move better and get out of or prevent pain. I read that some of the reviewers were overwhelmed with the complexity of this book. While this book is a wealth of knowledge I really disagree that this cannot be digested - any trainer who wants to learn more would be easily motivated to get this stuff. He really breaks it down very clearly for anyone who has studied the body and is dedicated to helping their clients.I hope that this information reaches certifying branches of education (NASM, NESTA etc.) soon so we can teach all those going into this industry how the body really functions instead of just tightening what's weak and essentially slapping bandaids over a dysfunctional pattern rather than retraining and educating the body how to optimally function so we will have better mobility and strength for life.

Good book but too technical
Well written but way to technical. This book would be good for a physical therapist to read need a medical back ground regarding muscles .

Excellent technical book written for professional body workers
Excellent technical book written for professional body workers: physical therapists, personal trainers, massage therapists interested in movement and exercise. It is also accessible to the non professional. Osar includes access to free videos on the web that enhance the descriptions and still pictures of exercise corrections in the book. Nothing can replace hands-on sessions, but for those of us who do not live near someone trained in these techniques, it's a fair substitute.

You need this book
Blows apart many common fallacies of how to develop ‘strength’ and provides the missing pieces to some many functional problems people face today. What you’ll learn here goes well beyond just benefiting the shoulders and hips. If you want to perform at your best, buy this book

Excellent resource
This book is effective in combining all the "greats" in movement therapy including Cook, Sahrmann, and Janda. Having read and studied their works, Dr. Osar does a great job of using their main points in effective assessment and treatment methods. Furthermore, he provides his own insights on assessment and excellent progressions that I can start to use right away. I highly recommend this book to rehab specialists and trainers!

Corrective Exercise Solutions to Common Hip and Shoulder Dysfunction
Dr. Evan Osar's book is outstanding. He generates two very creative paths for utilizing exercise to create stability and good movement patterns in the hip and shoulder. With close inspection, the reader will find that he is teaching exercises for the hip and shoulder in innovative ways to foster fluid movement and reduce the likelihood of injury. In addition, he demonstrates how exercise can be used to treat dysfunction in those who have already sustained injuries to the shoulder and hip regions. Dr. Osar's book is a great resource for anyone interested in fitness such as personal trainers and coaches as well as all professionals treating hip and shoulder dysfunction.

Great book
A very logical approach to scapular and hip stabilization that is clearly described with useful photos. I found the focus on breathing very helpful.

A Must Have In Your Training Library
A streamlined protocol for understanding, assessing, and correcting common dysfunction in the shoulder and hip. Some of Dr. Osar's points will make you stop and think about some of the current movement patterns and there cues, and how they can actually be detrimental to long-term development and health. In addition, I found the 'Developmental Movement Patterns' to be useful and currently integrate them with my athletes', as well as my own training.

Evan is truly innovative and forward thinking with his work ...
Evan is truly innovative and forward thinking with his work. He has a clear focus on biomechanical dysfunctions and makes sense of complicated muscle imbalances around the hip and shoulder and goes into depth on how to correct these with straightforward exercises. A must for any budding hip or shoulder guru from any medical field. PS I am a physiotherapist and I use a lot of these concepts in my practice with promising results.

An excellent reference guide for anyone working with pain and dysfunction of the hip and shoulder
I am a clinical massage therapist specialising in dysfunctions relating to the hip - although I see a lot of shoulder problems too! This book was recommended to me by a colleague and I'm really pleased with it. I have a lot of books that look good on my bookshelf (!) but just gather dust - but this one I genuinely often pick up to refer to and use to describe concepts to my patients. Definitely money well spent!

This book is greatly aiding my chronic muscle problems
This book is suitable for the patient as well as therapists. Evan's basic principles have started my recovery from chronic hip muscle problems. He doesn't just look at the source of the pain like most UK therapists but applies a global review. The main thing I have learnt for my condition is to improve the breathing, normalise the posture following a postural assessment and relax tight muscles rather than stretch them, as when they are chronically tight, trying to stretch and strengthen them just compounds the condition and pain. Also try and find an Osar trained therapist to assist you. Many thanks Evan also for all your U tube videos.

Too messy
No doubt Evan Osar is an excellent therapist, but I feel he needed more time to write such a comprehensive book. Although the material is informative, it is not interesting due to the clutter. If it was better organised and contained photos of individuals before and after therapy together with the protocol, then I would have given it 5 stars.
