Send it back unless you can drill the holes yourself.

Q: The description says up to 38cm wide but what size of hoop can it hold in inches?

Sorry , I have a different stand that will hold any size. The one pictured looks wonderful and the full description should give you full dimensions.

Q: If I get this will it work, to put the pedestal of the stand between legs and put the stand under one leg to hold it in one place?

Yes. I do have a problem finding a hoop that works well. It needs a longer screw and some adjusting. I think I have a friend who can make it work. It's a great idea and it works - a little bit.

Q: Will this frame hold linen fabric very tightly for tambour embroidery?

I use mine for needlepoint and those fabrics along with the yarn on the completed portions of the canvass are fairly thick and they have a tendency to loosen up and have to be re-tightened. This may work a little better for your linen fabric which I am assuming is thinner and doesn't lose the tension. Hope this helps
