Great Performance and Features, With One Minor Annoyance
The SteelSeries Rival 5 is a fantastic all-around gaming mouse with a lot going for it. The TrueMove Air sensor feels incredibly precise, and tracking has been flawless whether I'm playing FPS titles, MMOs, or just doing regular desktop work. The lightweight 85g design makes it comfortable for long sessions, and the 9-button layout, especially the quick-action side buttons, is genuinely useful without feeling cramped or gimmicky.Build quality feels solid, and the RGB lighting is clean and customizable through SteelSeries GG. The switches are snappy, and overall the mouse strikes a great balance between performance, ergonomics, and versatility. In terms of ease of use, it’s very straightforward to set up: plug in the USB cable, install SteelSeries GG software if you want to customize RGB or button mappings, and you’re ready to go. The default configuration is sensible out of the box, so you don’t have to tinker if you don’t want to. The side buttons are well-placed and intuitive, and it works equally well whether you’re gaming, browsing, or working.Regarding value for money, given the performance, build quality, and feature set (9 programmable buttons, high-end sensor, durable switches), the Rival 5 offers excellent value. It delivers many features you’d expect in higher-priced mice, yet remains reasonably priced. If you’re looking for strong performance without paying premium flagship prices, this is a smart buy.The only drawback I’ve run into is the middle mouse button (the scroll-wheel click). It requires a bit more force than I’m used to, to the point where it sometimes feels like it’s stuck even though it's not. It still works, just doesn’t feel as smooth or responsive as the rest of the buttons. Not a deal-breaker, but definitely something I noticed right away.If you want a lightweight, feature-rich, and highly accurate gaming mouse for a variety of game genres, the Rival 5 is a strong choice. Just be aware the middle-click might feel a bit stiff depending on your preference.

All-around good mouse. Big improvement on earlier Steel Series Branded mouses.
Feels great to use, very ergonomic. Responsive tracking. Software customization options are pretty solid too; The extra pair of buttons on there are nice; they actuate only vertically so you cannot accidentally press them along with the regular "fwd" and "back" side buttons present. I set them up as "Enter" and "Esc", which is a time-saver for my use case. It's an RGB mouse; and if you like that this does it well; it even integrates effects with other Steel Series-branded things, so the ripple effect from your keyboard will ripple all the way to your mouse too. For those who don't like it, it's easy to turn off or just give it a very basic dim color. This is corded-only; no battery. It also feels nearly weightless; two things people tend to either love or hate with no in-between, so buyers should know that ahead of time too.I actually took a bit of a chance on buying this one; I had used an older mouse from the same manufacturer before and I wasn't really very impressed with it; and on top of that it was defective too. But I do have a keyboard and headset from them that I really like, so I thought I'd give the mouse another chance too, when it was finally time to retire my old battle-worn Basilisk. For me, it's been a great mouse. Pretty happy with it

Good mouse
Good, semi lightweight mouse. Software sucks but isn't required to use it. No double clicking issues, after a few years of constant use it developed a minor bouncing issue with the scroll wheel, but for the price it's an amazing mouse.

Just the PC mouse I needed. Smooth and feels nice in my palm. SteelSeries make great products. Next on my list is a headset!

Great FPS gaming mouse with a one caveat
Watched a bunch of reviews. It was a toss up between this and the Logitech 502 series. I really like my previous SteelSeries 310 mouse but I wanted just a few more buttons on the mouse so I gave SteelSeries another shot.Quality wise i have no complaints. Most of the negative reviews remark on the three extra added buttons being hard to use. While i agree the forward thumb button requires me to move my thumb forward a few millimeters, its not impossible or uncomfortable to use. The up and down thumb bumper is a great addition tho. The downward motion is very intuitive. The up motion is a little less but still completely functional.I use it to play FPS games mainly. Stuff like Tarkov, Squad and a few MMO type games and the three extra buttons are exactly what i was looking for.I noticed one thing that is odd to me. In game my aim is fine. Firing isnt affected at all but outside of games doing stuff for example navigating the UI or even using windows itself, its not uncommon that i click on something but the moment of my left clicking causes the mouse to move and drags the cursor off the button/tab/item which in many instances negates the click in the first place. Doing things like closing windows or clicking a menu item in a games UI doesn't work because the click is canceled by my cursor dragging off the button before releasing. Again its very odd because it doesn't seem to affect me in game and i do believe the mouse is activating but just dragging the mouse before releasing causes it to cancel out. Its less of an issue as i get use to using the mouse but something i definitely noticed. All in all i like the mouse and will be keeping it and continuing to suppose Steel Series as i feel like my original favorite peripheral company Logitech definitely feels like they have fallen off in quality and user experience while at the same time become more expensive.

Long-Lasting, Comfortable, and Worth Rebuying
This mouse served me incredibly well for a long time, and I honestly grew very attached to it. It felt great in my hand — comfortable, responsive, and easy to use for both work and everyday tasks. Over time I realized how much I truly enjoyed using it, to the point where it became my favorite mouse I’ve ever owned.Because of that, when it came time to replace it, I didn’t even hesitate — I chose the exact same model again. It’s reliable, comfortable, and simply a pleasure to use. I’m really happy with it and can easily recommend it.

Worked great until it didn'
It was a very nice mouse when I first got it. Not so crazy like those gamer mouses that I couldn't make use of it for every day purposes, but I appreciate the extra buttons and being able to map them for custom uses, and the aesthetics are very pleasing with the RGB lighting.I have two problems with this mouse now that I've had it a while. The first one comes from the fact that after about a year, the LED on the cursor speed selection button burnt out. It was nice having it because it would show a different color depending on what cursor speed you currently had it set at. And my second problem, which also occurred about a year after using it, is that the scroll wheel started malfunctioning. You can scroll down no problem, but scrolling back up seems to be triggering the scroll down sensor as well, so as you scroll up it wants to skip back down a little again. It's gotten worse in the couple of years that I've had it now, so much so that I'm ready to replace it, and will probably look for a different model. So, the LED burning out is mostly an appearances issue, but the wheel going haywire definitely detracts from the functionality of this mouse, and based on just that issue alone I don't think I'd recommend this mouse to anyone. Thankfully there's an endless selection of alternatives out there.

Amazing Multi-Genre Mouse!
The SteelSeries Rival 5 is incredibly comfortable, responsive, and boasts top-tier tracking performance. My absolute favorite feature is the placement of the programmable side buttons right where my thumb rests, which makes mapping complex macros or switching weapons completely effortless mid-game. It is an exceptionally built mouse that is worth every penny.
