I hate it even more because I really loved it. I think it would have been a good little workout machine if it would have lasted more than a couple of weeks. So the first one I received, it lasted 7 days, then started squeaking really loudly and then seized up and would not pedal. I tried adding a little oil and it didn't help at all. I sent it back for a replacement thinking these things happen. The second one I received lasted a little over 2 weeks, then the pedaling became rough, then it felt like it started to slip, and then it seized up to where it could barely pedal. I tried adjusting the tension to see if somehow it was affecting it, causing intermittent tension, but it only made it worse. Something is either wrong with the design or I just got two defective items in a row. Usage was low to moderate (30-60 mins a day), and my weight is less than 120 lbs, in case anyone thinks that might be a factor in it being defective. I hope this helps.

Great quality, works really well and is much cheaper than its more advertised competitor.

I wondered if a small, scaled down exercise machine was worth anything. (I too have seen cast off equipment at garage sales) Working at home in a smallish apartment (10 steps from bed to office) made something like this necessary, both for my health and living space. I used to own and use a treadmill daily, and loved it... But nothing can match that, functionally. I compared some of the twist steppers and finally settled on this, because the steppers didn't seem to have a lot of range of motion or "fun" in the activity. (Yes I know, static exercise is only so much fun, but I consider ease of approachability, sustained use, simultaneous reading or TV while exercising, etc) I was surprised. This device is whisper quiet, works up a light sweat, and really smooth and comfortable to use. There is more range of motion than any stepper, and it gives your hips a bit of motion. You can use it sitting down or reclining if you are convalescing or just want to burn off some extra calories on the couch. When I say whisper quiet, I mean it. The rubber wheels are sound deadening, you make much more noise walking around. Your washer and dryer are dramatically louder than this. Your fridge is probably louder than this! I am very sensitive to making noise, and even though I live in an upstairs apartment, I would have no problem using this device at any hour day or night. The range of stride is definitely not as long as a full size elliptical, but you will get about 10" of motion out of each step. The resistance dial does not have a huge range but you don't need to set this device very high to get payback. Note that you might get friction-based squeal if you tighten it up, because it uses a belt to tension the drive wheel. Slightly annoying but still not as loud as you might think. The little computer is very basic, but as functional as you really need. It counts the steps, distance (in miles), time and estimated calories burned (I wouldn't give that last one much thought, it can't be calibrated to your weight or heart rate so it's a little bit of a guess). It's a nice motivator to do a little more (what? I can't stop at 930 steps! Let's make it an even 1000!) To my eye it appears the green, orange and black (that has a differ t number though, 55-1610) are identical devices. Get the cheapest one. The ONE con I have with this thing is that there's no handle on the top. For something like this that is fairly portable, yet that has a bit of weight to it, it should be easier to grab and shuffle from room to room.

I've had this product for a couple of months now and absolutely love it. I convinced my husband, who also works at home, to get one as well. I will say that while the product does get louder than when I first had it the noise really isn't that bad. It's not loud. It's just louder than it was. I haven't tried to oil it as some others have suggested but I think I'll give it a shot and see if that returns the noise level to what it was. Again, it's not loud... just a little noise. I walk on this when I have conference calls and nobody notices a thing. The workout is great. I have long legs (5'9" is fairly tall for a woman and I have a super short body. Most of that height is in my legs) and don't find the stride short at all. I think it is a great workout. I'm actually currently using it while writing this review and have worked up a sweat. It's pretty awesome to look down at my time at the end of the day and see I've actually been using the elliptical fro 85 minutes. It just doesn't feel like it because I'll go in spurts. The other fun aspect... my husband and I have competitions to see who was using theirs the longest. I absolutely recommend this product. Yes, for $100 I might have to buy another one in a year or two... but take any piece of exercise equipment that is heavily used and you will find yourself replacing it after a couple of years.

I never write reviews, but this one deserves it! I bought this a month ago to help me get back in shape. I live in an apartment so I needed something small for cardio and stumbled on this. Assembly was a breeze- easier than any ikea item I’ve every assembled. The first time I used it, I felt super awkward and off balance so I placed a chair in front of it to hold on to. After a few minutes I was used to the motion so I removed the chair and continued on to do a 30 minute workout while watching TV. I’ve used it almost every day since! It’s sturdy and the quality is great. The resistance adjustment dial works great too. I cannot recommend this mini elliptical enough! I was tempted to get a more expensive version but I’m glad I went with this one and saved some money. 10/10 from me!
