Good boots
These are very well made boots with leather stitched uppers rather than glued. They have good grip from the Vibram soles and they are thick and stiff enough to cope with rocky ground without feeling the stones like some boots. They were very comfortable straight out of the box although I find them a little loose around the ankle which required constant tightening of the laces. That may be personal preference but I like the support of a tighter fit. The laces are quite long so need double-hooking around the top hooks and double-bows to keep them off the ground but that's better than being too short though and they are easily replaced if necessary. There is plenty of toe room so no rubbing and risk of blisters. They are only 300g heavier than my old Scarpa fabric boots which I bought because they were light, so very pleased. Very good value for a decent pair of sturdy leather boots. Recommended.

Great Service from Philip Morris and Son
I think in these present days of un caring service and poor quality goods it’s only fair to flag up Philip Morris and Son for their excellent service and excellent products. In this case, hiking boots.I will definitely buy from them again as a result.

Good boots, not so great laces.
Bought these for hiking and climbing. As others have said, they are pretty much ready to go off the bat - not much breaking in required. However, after wearing them for a climb on Dumyat, I quickly realised that the laces stretch/slip, and I had to stop and tighten them twice in the space of 2 hours. Have had to purchase another set of laces and will update on the longer term boot usage, as the loose laces caused some discomfort overall. So far though, they are great at ankle support, are a bit heavy (but nothing crazy), keep your feet warm and dry. Value for money seems good.

comfortable and waterproof
A great pair of boots very comfortable to wear, and I tested them in many puddles and they are waterproof. Very pleased with my purchase and I would highly recommend them. They also look great

Great so far!!
Bought these nearly a year ago, and so far they're great!! Great comfort, ideal for rugged terrain and steep hills as their grip is brilliant. They keep my ankles safe from twisting too, they're also pretty light and don't wear you out when you're on a long trek.

Seriously Good
These are serious boots - and seriously good ones.'Serious' because substantial (they're not unmanageably heavy but you certainly won't be break-dancing in them...) and expertly crafted (solid leather uppers; everything stitched, not glued).'Seriously good' both in terms of practicality and cost.Practicality: comfortable more or less straight out of the box (and given my battered old feet I can't often say that about a pair of new boots!); totally waterproof (and still comfortable) even after several hours of unrelenting Cumbrian rain; and providing good grip whether on loose scree or a steep mud-slick slope.Cost: as others have pointed out, they're at least as good as Brashers but cost substantially less. (£40-£50 less when I bought mine.) It's a no-brainer, really: if you're aiming to do some fairly serious walking (or if you just want a reliably waterproof pair of boots for walking the dog) but you don't want to spend a fortune, then you'll be hard put to it to beat these.

Tough boots good for walking over stones/rough areas
The leather is nice and they keep water out if it does not get to the laces area. After going through some wet fields for a number of hours water on the tall grass meant some got in. The sole is quite rigid which mean that stones or sharp obects underneath are not felt and you kind of skid off them like if you had a plank of wood under your foot. The inner linning is only lightly padded so might need an additional insole to make them really comfy. The shoes are breathable and grip your anke preventing roll over.I would say they are better used for hiking, rough uneven surfaces like stones/rocks and a walking shoe is more appropriate for flat surfaces.
