I had to but this for an external hard drive that wasn't working with the multi cable it shipped with this cable fixed it quick

I bought the cable to run between my phone's (Samsung S5) car cradle and 12 volt power outlet. The cable worked well for about 1 week, until the USB Type A Male connector side completely separated from the cable, rendering the cable broken and useless. The 12 volt outlet is located on the dash between the front seats and the cradle directly above it, so no stress was put on the connector. I am extremely disappointed with this product.

I needed a short USB cable for my external hard-drive because I absolutely hate long cables and wires. I did some research and settled on this cable- being only 1 foot long. It's perfect sized and I couldn't be any more happier with the length. It plugs in perfectly into my USB 3.0 slot- and haven't had any issues with it yet. It's been about 2 months since I purchased, and- so far- so good!

Bought this for my hard drive, which would only work in a USB 2.0 plug.For a month this replacement works, yay! Then, it stops working, and I'm back to USB 2.0.

Not so stiff that it hampers use and not so cheaply made that it causes problems. Have tested these with various external hard drives that use this type of connector and have had no problems. I recommend this product very highly. Amazon needs to offer these as a regular choice.

Got this to replace the cable my husband used on his WD external hard drive. The hard drive quit working and in my research I discovered that occasionally it turns out the cable is too long so we decided to give this a shot. Worked like a charm!

I tried to use this cable with a couple portable USB 3.0 drives. For one drive, the connection dropped while in use; for another, the PC responds as though I'm installing a new device, then fails on the installation. The same drive(s) work fine with other USB 3.0 cables.

I bought three USB 3.0 drives. This cable was the right length and the right color. All too often, I wind up with a gaggle of black cables and electric cords. This made a difference.
