It looks like the usb attaches to my pc as a com port. can i send serial commands to control the voltage instead of using the supplied software?

I agree, I'm using python to control power supply without issue. I've have verified all the commands listed in the previous answer. I've also verified that LV will control the power supply using NI's digital assistant. NI's MAX software can also control the power supply.

Where to download the software? does it work for mac? windows 10? linux?

Dear Sir/Madam, the power control software currently only supports the windows system. You can find the software and software manuals in the CD, but we have been optimizing the software, drivers and software guidelines. Does this power supply support the scpi protocol for remote control?
