Does it make loud noise? I want to be able to sleep while this is on in the next bedroom. Thanks

This does NOT make a loud noise at all. You can hardly hear it. I bought it after seeing how much others kitties loved it. My kitty totally ignores it. I think the mouse would be better if it were not a smooth plastic that doesn't really resemble a mouse. I'm still trying to figure out how to resolve this. Maybe if I cover it with something my kitty might notice it. I don't know whether to recommend it or not based on each kitty has it's own likes and preferences. It is totally quiet, though.

How long do the batteries last? I'm trying to figure out if it'll be good to leave on at night for a bored cat or if the toy'll be dead in an hour.

Batteries do not last that long with this toy. It would not last through the night and you would be replacing batteries all the time. It is a great fun toy. My adult cats play with it as well as the kittens I foster
