Heated gear connections explained
This review ties together 4 products. Gerbing's Gyde 12 volt Jacket Liner-Powersport-Large/Regular Portable Temp Controller Powerlet SAE To Coax Female Cable (This is probably the one you want.) Powerlet (PAC-038) Coax Male To SAE Cable (Don't understand the need for this one, but someone probably wants it.)I'm posting this to provide some clarity around the typical connections for heated gear. I bought a Gyde Motorcycle Jacket Liner that's labeled Gyde Supply Co. and "Powered by Gerbing." I previously had an old Gerbing jacket from 2002, and it only had SAE (pigtail aka Battery Tender connections) for power. The modern jackets seem to connect to the power source using "coax" connections. It's much more common to run an SAE/pigtail/Battery Tender connection directly from your motorcycle battery than to run coax. So I needed to buy an SAE to coax converter cable. If you're running an SAE connection from your motorcycle battery, you want a Powerlet Coax Female to SAE Cable. (I mistakenly bought the wrong one at first.)Starting with the battery, here are the connections:Either 1 or 1 Alternate:1) Fused battery terminal to female coax connector. This came with the new jacket.1 Alternate) Powerlet Coax Female to SAE Cable.2) The side of the controller that faces the power is male coax.3) The side of the controller that faces the jacket is female coax.4) The wire coming from the jacket to the controller is male. For 1 and 1 Alternate, regardless of which battery connection you use, you want a fuse on it. If you only use the jacket, use the 7.5 amp fuse that came with the jacket. If you have other heated gear hooked up to that power line, you'll have to do some math to pick the correct fuse. The jacket comes with a chart that spells out the amp draw for jacket, gloves, etc.I hope this helps you buy the correct gear in one shot!

Expensive but requires improvisation
I only have the heated gloves. I have been using them for one season without a controller and found that you don't really need one. When it is really cold, full power is just fine, and when it is not really cold, you don't have to plug them in. I wore them with liners. But there some occasions when my fingers got a bit warm, so I gave in and ordered this device. I was a bit disappointed by the absence of a bracket or some other device that lets you attach it to a belt or edge of a piece of clothing. It connects between the harness and my permanently installed outlet under the seat. It does not attach to anything on the bike, so you are adding another couple of feet of cable with the switch dangling from it that you need to secure somehow. If it is under your jacket, you can't operate the button, and if it is outside, it can scratch the paint of the tank or some other surface. This takes a bit of time to figure out, and you need a solution specific to your gear. The other thing that surprised me is that it only has 4 discreet levels. I somehow expected that it would let you control the temperature continuously. With 5 levels (if you include Off), you only get 3 more than without the controller (on/off).

No as advertised. This is the newer model, no knob
Very disappointed that the product received isn't like the photo. They sent the newer model, which isn't easy to adjust, and the wires come out in a way that makes it awkward to use on a motorcycle. Have to take your eyes off the road to change heat settings. The old style, you could feel the knob and just adjust it accordingly.

Gerbing warmth for riding.
Fine Gerbing product, substantial electrical cords, works well. Makes solid connections to my vest and bike, no doubt. You need to have the correct outlet cord installed on the bike, sold separately. The knob clicks are very light, so it's too easy to change the setting by accident inside a jacket pocket. I wrapped a rubber band several turns around the control (underneath the knob), to make it hold the setting that I want. You can use the flat side of the control for Velcro mounting on the bike or jacket, if desired. Bring your own Velcro.

Saw another review about too easy to turn the knob and think that could be ...
Works as expected. Saw another review about too easy to turn the knob and think that could be issue as well but it does have slight detents that you can feel when turning it. I suppose if it were mounted where it wouldnt be touched it would be fine and easier to access than in your pocket.

otherwise I would highly recommend the dual controller for anyone using heated hear
Works well as long as you only need one heat input. I have heated grips on my bike so I only need a controller for my jacket, otherwise I would highly recommend the dual controller for anyone using heated hear. The only issue with this model is that Gerbing doesn't make a holder for the single controller like they do for the dual controller. I am using my old dual controller holder, but another option is to put a magnet on the back and mount it to the tank.

Perfect temperature control
We have 3 of these, 2 single control and 1 with a double control. They are great. When chilly I just turn it on a little, when it gets colder I just "dial it up" to however much heat I want. No more 10 layers of cloths that keep me from even being able to move. Packing for motorcycle trips is so much easier, can take a lot less bulky cold weather clothing.

Great product. Outstanding seller
i bought a pair of heated gloves for my girlfriend. Her hands are ALWAYS cold when on the bike. The gloves worked so well that even on very cold days it was too much. This simple little device attached easily and worked like a charm. She can go from blazing hot to no heat at all. Seller also included an nice little Harley-Davidson branded holder to clip onto your waist/belt so it's easily in reach. Wasn't expected but certainly appreciated!!
