Got the Job Done!
I pulled up over 50 wood fence posts buried 2ft in red clay. This item combined with a mechanical farm jack made the work fairly easy. Fantastic tool.

Problem with the product but customer service exceeded expectations
My task was to remove ten wooden 4x4s (picket fence posts). On the 7th post, the chain link broke. This was my first time using a 48-inch jack, but we were careful to be as efficient as possible. Amazon doesn't warranty used products, so I reached out to the vendor just to explain the situation. I am very pleased to report that they courteously provided a solution by which I could finish the job. Now, I don't know the right way to explain this next part, so bear with me. The product comes with one link attached to the Clevis claw hook. Attached to that link was the cable used to grasp the post. In other words, all of the load went through one link. It just seems to make common sense for the load to be moved to the hook's shackle bar. The shackle bar has a thicker diameter, is shorter, and by being perpendicular to the load, it can spread the force along its axis.

Works surprisingly well…
This works surprisingly well. I was actually fairly amazed at its ability to pull without snapping the airplane cord/wire. I do wish the chain was just a little bit longer, but it does work very well the way it comes packaged. I ended up using a bumper jack, the kinds you always see attached to the rear of jeep wranglers and other 4x4 vehicles. Or if you’re a bit older, you’ll recognize these as actual, bumper jacks. You will need to find an away to secure and hold the top of a bumper jack because the more you jack, the farther away the top of the jack will want to get from you. So, support it with a solid object or strong anchored posts attached at an angle to the head of the jack, and you should be good to go.

Successfully removed old post that had been cut at the base
I had a 20 year old fence post next to my house's foundation that I wanted to remove. The post had been cut near the base and the remaining wooden stump had deteriorated. I had to dig at least 8-10 inches around the post with a hand shovel, while repeatedly hitting the post from all directions with a mallet. Eventually the post started to move in the soil. After this, the tool was able to grip the stump and pull the post up out of the hole. No high lift jack needed, I used an old pipe I had lying around as a lever. Well designed and recommended.

Worked as expected
Used the post method and was able to remove ten concrete anchored posts. 4 were rotted and broken off at ground level. Still had to clear dirt from area, however, this really made the job so much easier.
