A reliable and energy-efficient Smart Home and Alexa supported bulb
The Philips Hue Smart 75W A19 LED Bulb is a popular choice for those looking to integrate smart lighting into their home. Here’s a comprehensive review based on its features and user experiences: Pros: Smart Home Integration: The Philips Hue Smart Bulb seamlessly integrates with popular smart home systems like Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit. This allows for convenient voice control and automation. Warm White Light: It provides a soft, warm white light that’s ideal for creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The color temperature is typically around 2700K, which is similar to traditional incandescent bulbs. Energy Efficiency: As an LED bulb, it is highly energy-efficient, consuming significantly less power compared to traditional 75W incandescent bulbs. This can lead to lower energy bills and a reduced environmental footprint. Dimmable: The bulb is dimmable, allowing users to adjust the brightness to suit different moods and activities. This flexibility enhances its usability in various settings, from bright task lighting to soft ambient light. Remote Control and Scheduling: Through the Philips Hue app, users can control the bulb remotely, set schedules, and create lighting scenes. This feature is especially useful for automating lighting based on routines or preferences. Quality and Longevity: Philips is known for producing high-quality lighting products, and this smart bulb is no exception. It generally has a long lifespan, often rated for around 25,000 hours, which means less frequent replacements. Cons: Cost: Philips Hue bulbs tend to be more expensive than traditional LED or non-smart bulbs. The initial investment can be higher, although the benefits and features might justify the cost for many users. Hub Requirement: To fully utilize the smart features, a Philips Hue Bridge (hub) is required. This additional hardware is often sold separately, adding to the overall cost. Without the bridge, functionality is limited to Bluetooth control only. Compatibility Issues: While Philips Hue bulbs are compatible with many smart home systems, there can be occasional compatibility issues with certain platforms or devices. It’s worth checking compatibility with your specific setup before purchasing. Bluetooth Range: When using the bulb with Bluetooth, the range may be limited compared to using it with the Hue Bridge. This can affect remote control and automation capabilities if the bulb is far from your phone or the Bluetooth source. Color Limitation: The bulb only offers warm white light, not color-changing capabilities. If you're looking for a bulb that can provide a range of colors or more dynamic lighting effects, you might need to explore other models in the Philips Hue range. Summary: The Philips Hue Smart 75W A19 LED Bulb is a solid choice for those looking to enhance their smart home lighting setup with a reliable and energy-efficient bulb. Its warm white light, smart home integration, and dimmable features make it versatile and user-friendly. However, the higher cost, requirement for a hub, and limited color options might be considerations depending on your specific needs and setup. Overall, it’s a well-regarded option in the smart lighting market, especially if you value integration with smart home systems and customizable lighting control.

Use BOTH if you are replacing an old pair. These are more responsive.
These work wonderfully and are more responsive by milliseconds (but still noticeable) when commands are given.

A variation of what I had- Tip: Buy the Philips bridge
Years ago I started making as many lights and appliances in my home smart appliances. One of the first purchases, before buying smart plugs and switches was the precursor to these bulbs. At the time it REQUIRED the Philops bridge. So I bought it. I have to guess that it has been 6 or 7 years, but one of the bulbs burned out, but one was still going. I decided just to order two more and put the remaining bulb in another fixture. The shape of these bulbs is different than the originals, but has the same specs. I had the previous bulbs programmed with Alexa and was wondering what I had to go through to make the new bulbs operate with the existing group. So I followed the directions and programmed them through the Hue app and was surprised programming them was so easy and even kept the new bulbs in the same group. It was almost as easy to move the old bulb to a different fixture, but required deleting it first, then finding it again through the Philips bridge and Hue app. For home use I strongly recommend the 2700k version. It is nice, soft, genuine incadescent light. Some folks (IMO mistakenly) order 3200k which are too blue and even 5000k bulbs, which are garish. Pay attention to the color temperature rating. I have other non-Philips Hue bulbs, but these seem to give off the most natural color. Yes, these bulbs are more expensive than other current smart bulbs. But my experience is that they last for years. And while they can be programmed (I believe) through Bluetooth or other means, the Philips bridge makes it easy.

Great Smart Bulbs, Especially If You Already Use Hue
I upgraded to the Philips Hue 75W A19 bulbs as part of my smart home setup, and I’m really impressed with the brightness and responsiveness. The soft warm white looks great in my living room—bright enough for reading but easy to dim down for relaxing. Pairing them with the Hue app was quick, and voice control through Alexa works flawlessly. I also appreciate how reliable the connection is compared to cheaper smart bulbs I've tried. They’re not the cheapest option, but the stability, build quality, and ecosystem make them worth it.
