Does this product help reduce the ambient heat outside the pipes?

I believe it does when used with the wrapping material. I used it to protect wires and hoses that came close to the exhaust line. I wrapped the pipe with the wrapping material and coated it with the spray as per directions and have had no problems with heat from pipe.

How long after I apply does it have to be put at 400° to cure can I put it at 400 degrees a week later a month later?

I would put at 400 degrees not long after application of coating, but let the coating dry a bit because vapors could ignite. Also two coats to seal better, first coat room tem. before coating again. Advise because a good seal so if moisture gets behind it after rain or cleaning it won't smoke. After warp waiting doesn't matter much but the warp could loosen up. After coating has set up a while and not got wet or cracked should also be alright to cure. I would at spray ends again if you wait to long to cure. Slower tem. rise to 400 will make it stronger.
