Just spoke with customer service regarding this question because the clamp ring is loose when you remove the foam filter and only use the reusable blue dry filter. Their response is as follows: You will need BOTH the foam filter and the reusable filter for dry pickup. Use only the foam filter for wet pickup. If you are switching from wet to dry pickup, then you must let the foam filter air dry completely before moving on to dry pickup. Or, you need to purchase a second foam filter and switch to the dry foam filter before using it to pickup dry material.
