Beautiful, well made, and comfortable boots
For double the price of the cheaper Clarks Bushacre 2 variant, these Originals are well worth the premium as the sole and upper are much suppler and the suede and stitching look premium. You could easily pair these with a suit or blazer to look the part. As a result of the premium construction, these Orginals are much more comfortable to wear than the Bushacre 2, but if you require a supportive shoe, e.g., for high arches or long walks, then you may prefer a modern boot with more cushioning (or shoes). When another reviewer said these are not “everyday” shoes, I assume that comfort for long periods or distances is what they meant. These are boots! They are not fancy running shoes with a 1.5” multi-layered sole or the type of boot you can get at the department store within that class of construction. My father gifted me high-end dress shoes about ten years ago that are more comfortable than these boots. Personally, I will slip in some supportive inserts as I both have high arches and walk often. Make no mistake, these are comfortable as boots but if you’re expecting a modern cloud-like ride then you’re going to be disappointed. These feel like 200-year old boots because they are. There is a complete absence of rebound. Order half a size down from your “sneaker size.” Generally, I wear a 12.5 which is annoying and the 12s fit perfectly. In sum, I highly recommend these boots with the reminder about it being a boot.

Not an 'Everyday Shoe.'
After being interested in these for several years, I finally pulled the trigger and bought a pair. Here are my thoughts. I wear a 10.5, so I took the advice and got a half-size smaller. Length matched, but the width was a bit narrow. Not enough to send back and they stretch out fairly soon. This is a good thing because with only 2 eyelets a side, a snug fit is probably not possible. Again, this is a good thing because the heritage of this shoe is casual wear, not strenuous work. They are not 'cushiony' and I feel a little bit of the seam between the heel and front-foot on the right side when I first start walking in them, even after breaking them in. I also notice the cup of the heel on both shoes for the first few minutes of walking. Both soon go away. I saw several mentions of water leaving stains when they get wet. I noted this and, even though I had no intention of wearing these in the rain, I've avoided water whenever possible. I did however get a couple of drops on them and, sure enough, you can see them a few weeks later. Don't wear them when the weather threatens rain. I got these to get a less boyish look when I wear shorts in warm/hot weather when I'm out running light errands. I'm pleased with the results. These are quality shoes that I will be able to wear for years. The expense suggest an everyday wear shoe, and I get that, but these are not that type of shoe. But under the right conditions, you can, and will, get a lot of wear out of them.

Great boots, but maybe there's a reason they're cheaper here...
I ordered these in 11.5 when I usually wear a 12. I have a slightly wide foot. The 11.5s were a little tight the first day, but now they feel they've stretched to the point where I could have even gone with an 11. But on the other hand, I remember trying on an 11 in a store once and thinking they felt uncomfortably tight. Either way, they gave me a blister the first time I wore them outside all day. There is an uncomfortable break-in period. But after about 3 days they started feeling great. A side note about these unexplainably low-priced original desert boots: I think a lot of them are defective somehow, or have been returned at least once. Both of mine have sort of lower quality looking leather (beeswax) on the inner sides of each boot. It looks a little cracked and the grain looks looser, and when I tie them tight, the leather creases a little bit. The outer sides are much better looking. I can tell they were put together this way on purpose, with the lower quality part of the leather on the inner sides to make it less noticeable. Or maybe somebody tried to stretch the inner sides with tons of force? I don't know, but it looks slightly damaged. I contacted amazon customer support via chat, explained my situation, and they were happy to give me a partial refund, but would not directly admit that these were not a brand new pair. I wound up contacting amazon chat a second time explaining that I still felt I didn't get a good deal on the damaged merchandise, and they actually gave me another partial refund. So in the end I got these deeply discounted; like 45 bucks shipped - so I can live with the defect. I expect them to get pretty beat up anyway. For full price, or even amazon's full price, I'd be disappointed though. Just something to keep in mind... there's a reason these are cheaper.

Worth It
Im relatively new to the whole ordering shoes online thing. This has been first shoe purchase and I can say im pretty happy with it. I have been recently changing my entire wardrobe from sneakers, tshirts, and hoodies to button downs, sweaters and boots. I was a bit hesitant at first, however after hours of research on style from websites such askmen, reddit, etc I felt pretty confident buying a clarks desert boot. I checkedout a few other products clarks had to offer and found that this type of shoe was probably one of the more stylistshoe amoung them all. The fit was great, pretty comfortable even though it doesnt appear to be, and the quality of the shoe is fantastic I can feel that this shoe is going to last me a long time. I also like how easily I can slip on the shoe and just walk right out the door. Some cons: you will have to break the boot in,the back lip of the boot was a bit irritating at first. The surface of the shoe can be easily scratched so youll notice a few marks here and there but overtime theyll blend right in with the rest of the shoe. I didnt know this but apparently the bottoms of the shoes will turn a blackish color after wearing them just once, its fine though you wont be able to see it from the sides of your shoe. Overal its a great buy. Its affordable, durable, and stylish. Matches with more outfits than you would imagine.

Things you should know before purchasing
So, I thought I would strike a home run with these boots, but getting them and trying them on made me feel otherwise. Not only did I receive the wrong color boots (I received a color that was close enough to what I originally ordered, so I am not going to b@#ch and moan about that) but the shoes had nicks and stress marks when I opened the box. So that bothered me a bit, but I knew they were going to develop stress marks and nicks over time so I wasn't that perturbed considering the shoes are made out of leather. I wear an 11.5 and ordered a 10.5 considering the sizing is a bit funky. It was a bit narrow like where your toes are, and a bit loose by the heel, but that I can deal with. The shoes are very comfy to walk in though, and the soles of the shoe are super soft, cushioning your steps. So, overall the shoes are kinda eh. I will keep and wear them, but if you have the access to actually go to a shoe store and try these babies on, DO SO. I am always hesitant on ordering shoes online because of sizing issues and the subjectivity that people have about sizing considering everyone has a slightly different foot shape. Overall, I would recommend this product, but just be aware that these boots are different from all other shoes that you own. And oh yeah, I have got compliments wearing these around my college campus. The ladies like 'em which is always a benefit.
