Yes, it works well to straighten naturally curly hair. My sister loves it as for her it has totally eliminated the need to use a flat iron. For myself I still use a flat iron after to get rid of the frizz.

The brush won't get hot. It's for controlling the speed of the air.

Yes! The irons will burn your hair and give you split ends unless you turn the heat way down. I have an iron and this brush. I almost never use the iron anymore, and my hairdresser says my split ends are a thing of the past.
