While reminding me of his self-effacing sentiments as set out in many of his private letters -none of which were meant for public consumption when written-- the interviews, while by definition meant for public consumption nevertheless showed Hemingway's shy side as well as his polite refusal to delve too deeply into how he writes for fear of analyzing it to its detriment. I truly enjoyed reading the interviews and was sad to come to the last one. Readers not familiar with this side of Hemingway may be surprised. Review: Slim but full - This slim volume is packed with details concerning Hemingway's approach to writing as a craft, vocation and way of life. Although he appears in these pages to be allergic to the interview process, his responses and back-and-forth are still revealing of his acumen and craft. There is a lot of food for thought in these few pages; glimpses of his drive, passion and genius shine through.

Hemingway in declining years
First off, The Last Interview series by this publisher is golden. In this case, hearing Hemingway in his own words at a time that he was not speaking publicly very often gives a bit of a glimpse into the troubled mind of the guy who was arguably our best author. Thanks for this.

Highly Unrecommended!
If you know a lot about Hemingway, this book will be repetitive. Little new insight as far as I was concerned, but I have studied Hemingway for years. It is a small book and pricey for what you get!

More I came to know him, the more I'm in love with his words and simplicity. He wasn't a Philosopher, just a pretty good writer which he loved to do all his lifetime. The four Precious interviews gave me an ample amount of his personal life and his feelings. He was such a nice guy. I wish he were alive now.
