Limited colored vinyl LP pressing. Reissue of this album from the mutant primal Rock 'n' Roll dynamos. The architects of a wicked toxibilly sound, The Cramps boast a cultural impact that spawned a legion of devil cults and left in it's wake a cavalcade of cave-stomping imitators. On their final studio album, the self-produced FIENDS OF DOPE ISLAND, these charm-school rejects apply their sinister handiwork to a volatile combination of incantational rock 'n' roll hexes like 'Big Black Witchcraft Rock' and 'Papa Satan Sang Louie' and put their hoodlum warp on exotica standard 'Taboo' before swerving and careening through the crypt-kickin' blues rave-ups 'Dope fiend Boogie' and 'Wrong Way Ticket,' finishing with the musical equivalent of a 13-car pile-up.

Re-issue CD missing a song clearly listed on the back. Quality control please.
I can confirm what the previous reviewer states. This re-issue, at least on CD, is missing a song. Track 13 - Wrong Way Ticket. I even bought 2 copies just to make sure and yes, this was present through both. Great album, but there should be no reason to leave off a listed track other than sheer laziness. I hope they press a corrected version with all 13 tracks, but knowing the financial constraints of some labels it may take years if happens at all. By that point you may as well wait for another new re-issue. I would stick with the original 2003 version right now if you can still find it, but hey, that is just the audiophile completist in me.

Green version vs. purple version
The green version from 2014 is a disappointment compared to the purple version from 2003. The newer digipack is fine, but it lists "Wrong Way Ticket" plainly on the back as track 13, but it's simply not on the CD even as a hidden track. There are no liner notes to speak of in the green version -- mine came with a slot for a booklet, but no booklet. If you're thinking of getting this album, just get the 2003 version secondhand. You'll get the full album and full artwork/liner notes. If you're a completist, you'll probably get both, but caveat emptor.

Not Bad, but Accurate Advertising is Worth the Effort
I'm giving three stars because, as enjoyable as this CD is, it is not accurately advertised. The item pictured is the original purple-cover version and boasts, both in the description and on the package itself, the last track Wrong Way Ticket. Neither of these details are correct. The item comes in a green cardboard sleeve with no booklet and no Wrong Way Ticket. Again, though, this is an enjoyable CD, and after looking up Wrong Way Ticket on YouTube to see what the fuss was all about, I wasn't tremendously impressed. Still, its worth it to read the reviews before purchasing and accuracy is worth the effort.

Worth owning if you're a diehard fan, BUT...
This CD was a letdown in alot of ways for me. After five years in waiting for this new album, I guess I was expecting The Cramps to be exploding with fresh ideas and energy. Not so with Fiends. The energy of this disc feels tired overall. I love the opening track, and Papa Satan Sang Louie, but from there I think I could've fallen asleep doing the dishes until Wrong Way Ticket kicks in to wake me up and let me know it's time to change the disc. I love just about everything Cramps, they are probably one of my favorite bands of all time. The last few records before this I thought were awesome, and showed a new loudness to their sound. But this just came off as forced. Lux sounds bored, and the whole band seems to just be going through the motions (something people have said before that I've wholeheartedly disagreed with until now). Definitely not the disc to start with for potential Cramps' fans. You'll be much happier with Big Beat From Badsville, Stay Sick, Smell of Female, and of course, Bad Music For Bad People. Also, they easily put on one of the best live shows of all time, so definitely check them out if you get a chance.

Their best album after all this time, amazing
I have been a cramps fan since college, over fifteen yrears. Although I thought some of the songs on Big Beat From Badsville were great, i.e. Like a Bad Girl Should, that album as a whole was just decent. After five years without an album I felt fairly certain that they had split. I actually expected this album not to be so good. I was wrong. As a whole album this is by far their best effort. I have all of their albums and this is one of the few that is excellent from start to finish. I was thrilled with it from the first listen and it only sounds better with time. If a had to pick only one Cramps album this would be the one. I saw them in Ashville, NC and I hope to see them again before they finish their tour. They are one of the few bands that are actually better live than on CD. If you want a truly entertaining show this is the band to see. Ashville is the third time I have seen them and everytime has been awesome. If you like any of their albums you should definitely enjoy this one.

be warned there's no wrong way ticket
I was very angry to realize wrong way ticket is not on the cd, but it is listed on the album. Thats the whole reason I bought the dame thing.

Possibly the Weakest CD by A Legendary Band
I love The Cramps, but their last CD just isn't up to par. To be fair, the band telegraphed the mediocrity of this CD with the title. Anyway, there is at least one really good song on the CD: Taboo.
