These lycra shorts have padding sewn in to each hip and tailbone area to help prevent injuries. Padding is compact and the shorts can be worn as shorts, under pants, or under tights. If you wish to wear these under tan tights, then the beige will blend best.

Great Padded Shorts for Figure Skaters Doing Jumps!
I searched around for padded skating shorts that cover not just the butt area, but the side hip area, for my nine-year-old son who is a competitive figure skater. These shorts have just enough padding that they still allow a lot of freedom of movement when he jumps and spins. If you’re looking for super thick padded shorts, these are probably not the right type, but if you have a child or adult who is a figure skater, and needs some hip as well as tailbone protection, these are very good. My son weighs about 55 pounds it is on the small side (Boys Size 8 pants), so he fits a Child Size Small in this brand. He wears these over his underwear, but under his skating tights/pants. Highly recommend.
