It is made of steel with what appears to be powder coated. I have used several of these to build test equipment and find them easy to machine to install meters, etc. Make sure you get one big enough. The white plastic frame extends into the enclosure and decreases the mounting space available on the bottom. For instance: the 7.09" x 5.12" x 4.33" Enclosure has 6.75" by 3.5" of surface to mount parts on. I would expect that about all of these enclosures will lose about 3/4" of usable floor space.
