Itomic Ereader Better than expected!
This review is not from the "Kitchen Queen" but from the "Fix-it King". (same house, different jobs)The itomic e-reader is a much better product than I expected. I had read the reviews, some good, some bad, but I decided to take a chance and get one to compare it with my wife's Kindle. First of all it is much sturdier than I expected, the leather like case is well made and looks like it will last. The screen is well lit, clear, and my color PDF's and illustrations in kids books show up great (much to the delight of the little ones). The "keyboard" is large enough even for my hands to use and thought he instruction book is a bit sparse on instruction most of the moves and key uses are pretty easy to figure out. The music player is a nice touch as well, although the speaker is weak and muffled while in the case, the headphones sound perfect. It does not come with an SD card (you can use up to 16Gb cards), but the itomic comes with 2Gb of internal memory to get you started. The downside, as most have posted, is that the instructions are hard to understand, but the two videos on Youtube that show how to work it are great and very helpful. There are lots of posting on the internet of people who have questions about this feature or that and all it takes if a bit of searching to get an answer that has already been asked and answered. One of the best things, in my opinion, is the various formats that it lets you use. You do not need fancy e-book conversion programs (unlike my wife's Kindel), you just get your e-book, hook it to your computers USB and it is an easy file transfer to the itomic reader. Nothing hard about it. I was even able to download directly to the itomic. The same goes for video and music downloads.I do not use wi-fi so that application will probably remain untested for quite some time.Overall I liked it so much I purchased two more for my children. Too bad the company went out of business, I would have liked to see the next version or upgrade. If you are looking for a cheap alternative to the Kindel or other e-readers then get this, if you are looking for an ipad or similar device then don't. It is not a computer per se, but it does a fairly good imitation.I recommend the itomic e-reader.

Nice little ereader...
...funky looking and I enjoyed using it. Unfortunately, I inadvertantly plugged it into my computer charger instead of a little 5 volt wall wart, and burnt out the battery. I liked the color display and ease of use.WiFi was slow, but I didn't use it much preferring to side load my books. I like this unit, and am considering ordering another.Update: I was very happy to find another from an online company for 21.50 (open box) with free shipping. It is as new, with the only evidence of previous ownership being the DRM register. I immediately plugged it into my computer to find that it wasn't recognized. I inserted a 16g SD card, which was recognized and loaded it up with books, music and photos. Note that this little device also is able to play videos. I like the color display, since some of my books have color photos and illustrations. I also have a 2 year old Nook Simple Touch and a Nextbook Next1 for comparison. The latter was purchased at a grocery store for about 20 bucks 3 years ago, and is still working well, with a library of over 250 books and a lot of music and photos. It too has a color TFT screen, but it is heavier and thicker than either the Nook or the iTomic. The iTomic is very light and thin, fast page turn and feels well made. It charges rapidly and keeps it's charge for a long time. These Chinese ereaders get bad press, but I find my iTomic and Nextbook nicer to use than the Nook with it's sharp but colorless E ink display and it's limitation to only B&N stock. No audio, video or photo files either and the price point is much higher. With the iTomic, you can download files from many sources and sideload them from your computer. You can also read in the dark if you wish.No company support however...it's OOB. So what? B&N might soon join them and then I'll probably lose all those Nook Books anyway. You might consider grabbing one of these while they are still available. I'm glad to have mine.

rip off
I brought this item to save my articles that i save on Wikipedia. Within two days it slid off my desk and fell on the floor! The cheap plastic must have been glued together because it fell apart. In one hand I had the cover and in the other hand I had the motherboard. I tried to contact the seller to get another one but they didn't reply so I was forced to just throw it away and count it as a loss!Do not buy this item! The processor for the internet is too slow and it is not durable at all!

Doesn't meet expectations.
I recieved this as a gift and was very excited until I actually tried to use it. The instruction manual that comes with this is bogus. The only book that came preloaded on mine was Alice in wonderland. To the person who said there is wifi capabilities on it where did you find that info and how do I get on wifi with it because the manual doesn't provide that info. And I'm extremely unhappy that I can't get any of my kindle books on it without paying for software. I have the kindle app on my iPhone and have about 400 books in my library and they're not compatible with this reader. Thought it was a pretty cool gadget until I discovered that I can't do anything with it so it just sits and collects dust. :(

Great E-Reader
I got mine at walmart and wasn't sure how much I would like it but when I started to use it I was very pleased. It is very easy to understand. I was able to use it right away and is good if your not a very Tech-Savvy person. It doesn't have a touch screen but has a little mouse or touch pad to used. A wall charger is included. There is also a cable to connect it with a laptop or computer. It comes with I think 150 preloaded classics already on it. The only thing I didn't like was the fact it was so slow on the internet. Also, it comes with a suggested site to download books on (like iTunes on an apple device) but the site is over priced. 90% percent of the books are over 7.00$. At that price I would much rather hold the actual book in my hand! All together, if your looking for an easy to understand reader, I recommend this one.
