These are definitely the best strings I’ve played with. The sound you get for the price is well worth it. They feel great, sound great, and last a long time. I would definitely recommend them.

I had a buddy tell me that I had to try these. He said that they easily last twice as long as normal strings, and they sound better the longer you play them. Turns out, he was right. The reason why is because the coating used to protect the strings does dull the sound a little bit. and you don't truly get a true feel for what they can sound like until they're really broken in. I'm not sure if that's a good thing. Just don't change your strings right before a show. They do last twice as long, though, and even out-of-the-package, they sound better than most other strings I've tried. I typically used Martin strings before mostly because I felt that if Martin makes such awesome guitars, they must make Martin strings to go with them. The strings I usually purchased where the Martin Authentic Lifespan 2.0. I personally own two Taylors and a Takamine acoustic, and most folks know that Taylors come stock with Elixir strings. Personally, I think that's because it helps Taylor sell guitars. When I was playing the Martin next to the Taylor at the music store, I preferred the sound of the Taylor. It was strong in the mids, subdued but still bright in the highs, and they had a wonderfully subdued bass sound that you could feel more than you could hear. The Martin seemed more well rounded, but the Taylor stood out because it rang out much longer. I think it was the strings, and I didn't realize this until knowingly changing from my normal Martin strings to the Elixers on my guitars at home. Three guitars all produced superior results for different reasons. On my old Takamine workhorse, the Elixir strings produced a lot more sustain from a fairly weak sounding guitar. I was used to having to plug it in if I wanted people to be able to hear the guitar over my singing, and that became no longer necessary. On my Taylor Mini, the Elixirs greatly reduced the clinky sound strumming made, which was overwhelming with the Martin strings. This was the most noticeable difference. The Mini sounded really bad with the Martin strings by comparison. On my baby, though, that punch from the bass that you can feel more than you can hear has returned. It doesn't sound like it produces a very loud sound, but that sound carries a long way. I love singing with it. It's the only guitar of the three where I can actually hear the strings ring out loud enough to harmonize my voice with them, and I am truly in love with that feeling. I wasn't able to attain that nearly to the same degree with the Martin strings. The other thing that I want to point out is that these seem to be easier to tune, and they stay in tune. usually, when I first string a guitar, I like to strum around a little bit and then retune. I've been finding that with these strings, I don't have to. Plus, it's actually kind of strange if I pick it up and it's out of tune. I truly believe the strings have something to do with that.

I play guitar a lot, but I've only been playing a few years and I have limited exposure to strings. That said, I have a background in piano/keyboard and I've been playing music all my life. I've been through about a dozen different sets of strings on a few guitars I own. These run the gamut from inexpensive (Ernie Ball Earthwood) to standard (D'Addarios) to high end Elixirs and Cleartones. The Elixir Nanoweb is my second favorite I've used on both my Yamaha and Ovation A/E guitars with the Elixir Polyweb being my favorite thus far. Here's why: The coating does affect string sound and I noticed it for the first session or two of playing. After that, what stood out to me was that the strings never lost their tone. For weeks. Ernie Ball Earthwoods sound great when installed, but after a week of playing, I can feel and hear them start to deaden out. The Elixirs take a hit on day one and two, but they don't wear down for weeks at a time. Months even. To me, by the time I am on my fifth session of playing (in one-to-two hour sessions), the Elixirs start to surpass the others and they continue to shine at that level for quite a long time. In fact, degradation of sound was so minuscule on my last set that I never heard it. I changed out the strings when I began to see visible marks at the fret and pick area (assuming where the coating was starting to chip/wear). The change did make them sound better... I could tell after I put the new ones on that the old ones were worn, but it was minor. In short, you pay three times more for these strings, but you should get five times more life out of them. To me, choosing a $5-$6 set of strings instead is being penny wise and pound foolish.

On HIS insistence, I had my luthier buddy throw a set of these on my electro-acoustic a week before a show (new strings and going from lt-med to extra-lt made me a bit nervous!). He was right! These are very nice strings. They have a clearer tone than the phosphor-bronze strings I was using. It's very noticeable. Also, since I'm used to playing with 10's on my electrics, I'm finding I can bend these with relative ease, granted I went down one notch, but part of it is definitely the strings. In particular, I found it much easier to play Alice In Chains unplugged leads with these strings. Sure, they're not as loud, but when you amp an electro-acoustic, all you have to do is turn up the volume, and they handled my heavy strumming and bending without breaking - haven't changed them in almost a month, playing 1/2hr every other night unplugged, with 2-3hrs on weekends, and they still sound fine. I'm cheap and lazy, and I don't generally care if my electroacoustic has fresh strings, just so long as it has 6 of them - lol! My luthier is a great guy - rescued this guitar from becoming kindling (I could not get the action down to save my life - stupid Guitar Center bait and switch! Play the nice guitar, take home the one tuned down 3 frets because the neck and bridge are so screwed-up - figure it out after the warranty is up!). Bottom line: These strings sound great for both leads and rhythms, hold-up very nicely, and you can play pretty hard on them without any breaking. I'm glad I bought them.

I purchased these for my hummingbird pro. They definitely lasted a long time. The feel and the tone is completely different than what I was used to. Usually I use Ernie ball Earthwood which are cheaper but do not last as long. In my opinion the Ernie balls sounds better with traditional style old-school acoustics but if you don’t want to change your strings very often, and you’re not concerned about what may sound arguably a little bit better or feel a little bit different than these strings might be the best fit for you. I’m going to stick with the Earthwood for now on my Gibson hummingbird pro. I’m going to install a new set of elixirs on my late 1980s USA ovation elite that I don’t use that often and since it is not really a classic style guitar think these elixers should fit the bill for that particular guitar.

Great sound. I have been using these strings on all my guitars since they first came out. I tried a set of different strings for one of my guitars but replaced those with these after one week.

If you crave for a brilliant sound on your acoustic guitar, seek no more. These will keep their beloved sound for a way longer time than uncoated strings. As for the feeling, if you haven't tried coated strings yet, give it a go. You'll figure out whether you like them or not. It feels slippery compared to regular strings, especially in the first few days. I do like it, but you have to try for yourself!

Suono la chitarra da 16 anni ormai, e ho sempre avuto lo stesso problema: le mie mani sudano molto e dopo poche settimane le corde si ossidavano tendendo ad un suono più ovattato e meno brillante, spesso si spezzavano dopo poco. Ho provato moltissime marche, economiche e più costose ma da quando le ho scoperte, per puro caso, leggendo che Ed Sheeran montava le Elixir sulla sua chitarra, non posso più farne a meno. Hanno un suono brillante e pulito che dura, nonostante il sudore, svariati mesi e, in base al mio uso, anche anni! (Anche se so che andrebbero cambiate più spesso) Davvero ottime, di qualità superiore. Super consigliate!

Jag är jättenöjd. Plötsligt blev det roligt att spela igen. Kanske inte de billigaste strängarna, men de gav min gamla gitarr ett lyft, bättre än de billigare jag köpt tidigare.

Great and long lasting. Always good investment, I did not buy any other brand of strings for ages, so don’t know if any other brand is good as or even better, but like favourite jeans, when it fits and feels comfortable, why change it! This strings sound great, bright and with excellent excellent durability make great investment!
