Pros and Cons 2017 Summit Cobra
I had a Summit Cobra that was at least 12 years old. It was stolen soI was forced to upgrade to a 2017 model. I personally believe it is not as good as the older model. Here are a few pros and cons of the 2017 Cobra:PROS: The seat is much more comfortable and easy to remove The quick release system for the tree cable is easier to use and more reliable.CONS: The seat adjustments tend to slip The system to secure your feet to the stand when climbing is quicker, but gives you less control and makes the ascent noisier The shortened the handles on the seat so it makes it very difficult to climb using the dip method. It forces you to lean on your arms when climbing which makes it much slower. The seat portion of the stand does not grab the tree well and slips at least once every time I ascend a tree. Finally Summit’s customer service is very subpar and they did not even appear to care about the problems I was having with their stand

Doesn't bite the tree very well.
It's a decent stand. The seat is comfortable. The foot platform is small. You don't have much room to stand. It doesn't grip the tree very well. Kinda scares me sometimes. The teeth are not pointy. They are squared off. I took a file and made them pointy. It helped to bite into bark better. It is pretty light and easy to hang on the tree and put it back together. Climbing up the tree is a little difficult since you don't have a place to sit with it being open faced. The backpack staps suck. They are like bungee cords. Not a good design. Overall not a bad stand but there are better ones out there.

Good Stand but.
This was a well built tree stand and very light, however I found the climbing method for the stand uncomfortable and the space withing the stand a bit lacking. This is not to knock the stand in any manner, My old stand (API Predator) I am finding has no equal on the market today and will have to accept a smaller elevated hunting position.

Bad Noisy Seat material
Let me begin by saying I love Summit stands and have 4 of them. But this recent purchase (October 2018) is quite a disappointment. Summit has changed the seat material and you cannot move or come to a standing position out of the seat due to the very loud creaking and crackling sound. It is impossible to hunt from. I emailed support with no solution to the problem. I have ordered a replacement seat from a different manufacturer. I would not buy a Summit until they change the seat material.

I like them so much I decided to buy the third
I own two of the older model cobra's, I like them so much I decided to buy the third. Summit has changed the support bar that wraps around your back and up under rib cage. Tried this new version for around 2 hours and could not get comfortable, tried lowering and raising seat but that onlychanged where the bar squeezed my sides. It actually made me sore in the kidney area and was cold. I went as far as to call summit to see if they would fix it like the old model, of course they said they couldn't alter the design. There was absolutely no way I could have used this on a lengthyhunt.

Perfect!
This stand is perfect. I'm 170lbs and 6ft and it is large enough to to sit comfortably. The seat is extremely comfortable. It's quite and easy to get around the tree. It feels very safe and bites into the tree nicely. A hand climber is a little more of a work out but it's work it to loose the extra weight to carry up and down mountains. 5 stars all the way

Even better than expected, minus packing errors.
My boyfriend truly loves the comfortable seat and it being lightweight compared to the classic. My complaints: 1) wrapping this for Christmas was bad. Haha he knew what it was ASAP.2) whoever packaged this left a nut off, no biggie because we took one off an old stand. Still, it's an important piece.
