A Great Tool to get the JOB done. Don't waste your time or money on the cheaper aluminum version with a few spot welds.
I bought this in June 2013. I had used a neighbors back in 2005 - 2006 and it worked great and got the job done with just a little bit of work. You need upper body strength but not like a body builder. Unfortunately my neighbor moved away to Indiana. So for about 6 full years I didn't have a good way to remove the grass that covered the cement doughnut around my landscaping sprinkler heads. This is a heavy metal tool that will last for your life and that of your kids lifetime when you pass this down to them.I bought maybe 6 or 7 of the much cheaper aluminum kind with a few spot welds. Those would last about one time going around my house with 16 sprinkler heads. That product was worthless. I have seen several neighbors who bought the cheap aluminum version destroy their cutters on the first or second sprinkler head. What a waste for all involved and including the return trip to HD or L**wes for their money back. I did the same thing with my prior destroyed purchases. You get what you pay for. The cost is about double but will last. This is the real deal. It has very sharp "teeth" and came with about a half mile of packing tape around the cardboard that protects the working end. I wish I had found this sooner. I was checking the internet every few months and when I found this I bought it right away.My only complaint is that some of the cement sprinkler header protector are about 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch wider than the head trimmers. What a pain this is. It is a problem of the cement not the cutter. It just makes this harder to use. I do check HD or L*wes when I am in their stores to see if any of the cement rings are just a bit thinner all the way around.I say buy this. It will last for life. Stay away from the cheaper aluminum versions. You get what you pay for so don't waste your time or money on the cheap version.

Happily, very satisfied
I honestly was very unsure about this purchase. For me, it seemed too expensive and I had notice many reviews which indicated it didn’t cut well and/or it took too much effort.Until recently, I only had my sprinkler heads to keep up with and I have a relatively small yard. But recently, 2 of my neighbors needed help with their sprinklers and they are both elderly an unable to manage the upkeep. So now with about 50 sprinkler heads I wanted to find something quick and easy. This tool works perfectly for me.I have St Augustine grass. I center the cutting over the sprinkler head, press down, the. Step on it, lift up, make an 1/8 to a quarter turn, press it back down in the ground, make 1 to 2 turns, and 9 times out ten, I have a perfect 6 inch grass plug. The only time I don’t get the perfect grass plug is when there are shrub or trees roots. So I find a bare spot in the yard, use the tool to cut out a perfect 6 inch plug hole and plant the grass plug.

Works great but requires some effort.
The quality of this thing is no question. You definitely feel like it's made well and can handle anything. Is it a magic wand that's going to make a circle in your grass without any effort? No, It does the job well but it definitely requires some muscle. I have thick St Augustine grass and it worked great for me once I got the hang of it.

Fantastic Hole Maker
I have a number of drain pop ups in my grass. The sod liked to grow over them. I usually cut them other my weed whacker which makes a big mess. I got this tool on Amazon today and it is amazing. It fits perfectly around the edge of each 6 inch pop up. I can cut the sod now and make a perfect hole, and the rain water will gush right out.

Solid Build but Measure Irrigation Donuts
Owning or having access to a sprinkler head trimmer is essential in central Florida. I have been borrowing my neighbor’s trimmer to clean the St. Augustine grass off my sprinkler heads 2-3 times/year. I wanted to trim them more often, so instead of asking to borrow the trimmer more regularly I decided to make the investment in a solid trimmer myself.History out of the way, this trimmer is head and shoulders above the competition in terms of looks and build quality. The teeth on the trimmer are SHARP and the weight alone screams QUALITY. I took the trimmer out as soon as it was delivered. Unfortunately I didn’t get far as the 6” trimmer does not fit around a 6” sprinkler donut, see the attached photos. My fault for assuming that it would work. However, I would suggest adding the diameter of compatible irrigation donuts to the description. I am going to return this trimmer and upgrade to the 7” version instead. Still a 5 star product! Much better than the cheap aluminum trimmers you can find at Lowe’s and Home Depot. You get what you pay for. This thing will last forever!

Useless
This does not cut around sprinkler heads like you would think. It's just not sharp enough to cut through heavy grass. Threw it in the trash.
