It's very sturdy. It can hold about 250lbs.

Q: Have difficulty climbing stairs. Would this aid in going up stairs

I don’t see how this would help. I bought it to help me climb into the bathtub to shower. It is a great little stool. I also use it as a foot stool.

Q: How much does this weigh without the legs?

It is very light in weight. It does not even register on the scales with the feet. So lets just say that if that is too heavy you might like to consider another stool . This one is like air. So try it, !
