Vegetable Gardening for Dummies (For Dummies Series)

I've had potted vegetable before and a small 3 X 3 garden (that did not do very well) But, this year my boyfriend and I decided to make an 80 X 34 garden and plant everything possible. I was so happy to read that, for the most part, we were on the right track. I'm excited to try the different varieties next year of all the different vegetables that they list. They tell you how to care for, fertilize, compost, and plant each plant to the specifications. I just ordered Gardening with Free-Range Chickens and I'm so excited to involve the chickens in our process :)

This is hands down the 'must have'book for new veggie gardeners. I have mine dog-eared and highlighted so much that I may need to get a new copy soon! I have been gardening for 3 years now and this is still my go to book. It has container options, herbs, odd veggies, you name it! I have purchased many books since this one and this is Still my favorite.

Very helpful for beginner gardeners. This book explains the whole process in easy to understand language. Great to read when getting started and to keep on hand for reference in the future.

Never having planted a vegetable garden, I decided to give this book a try. So far, so good. I like that the book is laid out in a way that allows you to jump around; you don't have to read from beginning to end. A great $ value given all of the information that's packed into this one book. Definitely give it a try and pass it on to someone else!

I have been using one version or another of these books at least to some degree ever since I first picked one up for my brother so he could work on his old Volkswagen, back in the late sixties! Of course back then they were a little more racy and included other more controversial ways to spend your break time between changing your spark plugs and your oil! They are still as informative as always with plentiful little side tips to keep you interested. Entertaining and informative with a little humor for good measure is still the way to go!

My boyfriend owns a farm and I will habe my own vegetable garden on his property starting this year. I was so excited to begin that I looked into container gardening so I could start growing veggies before the ground was ready to be broken. It is my new favorite activity. This book is easy to use and I highly recommend it to beginning gardeners.!

Great basic info! Easy to comprehend and gives some great ideas. There are several suggestions that one may not have thought of until reading through this material. By getting this book, I did not have to join a local garden club to learn my way around the yard, lol!

I was pleasantly surprised! This is one of the best books about vegetable gardening I’ve read. The chapters are very organized and thorough. I love Kindle!

Love this book. Has tons of information and ideas to use to help with your garden. Some of my friends have even asked to look at it to get idea's and information and have now purchased for themselves

I found this book to be invaluable to gardening. Too many gardening books are filled with latin and botany terms and assume you are well versed in how to garden. I always end up not actually finding out what I wanted to know, which is how to grow a vegetable garden and why vegetables need to be grown the way they are. This book will become my go to refrence book while planning and planting my garden. The author is enthusiastic about gardening and it shows in his writing. The explanation in each section of the different vegetable groupings and what they need to grow is exactly what I want in a how to garden book. This book gives it straight up, no mucking about, this is what you need and this is how to do it.
