This would not work! Files and pics would not load.

This drive incorrectly reports as 256GB but actually only contains significantly less data. Worse than that it will quite accept writes up to its full capacity and you will only ever notice that your data is not stored when you read it. This is a relatively common problem with cheap USB sticks. Attached is a test report from a utility called ValiDrive clearly showing that the drive does not properly function for its entire storage capacity. ValiDrive is utility that validates if USB memory sticks properly provide all the storage they are reporting and I would recommend you check any USB memory with it to avoid products like this.If you read some of the other reviews you can see other people who were actually hit with data loss after using this product as well.

Edit 4mo laterSo i did lose all of my pictures from the first time i used this USB, and also realized that it was the way i inserted the device into my phone. TAKE OFF YOUR CASE FIRST! Make sure theres nothing obstructing the charger port before you insert it. Once i did all of that stuff, it works perfectly. Now i can continuously fill my phone with photos of my baby! Yay!Absolutely crap! after moving ALL OF MY MEMORIES onto this stick to free up space on my phone, now it's not even registering and asking to be FORMATTED!

Overall, the product is great. It is well-made and heavy and durable. I originally bought it hoping it would work with my iPhone. There is a photo in the examples that appears to be an iPhone but further down in very small print in the description it says “not compatible with iPhone“. My mistake. However, it will work perfectly to back up my files on my laptop, just make sure you read the description and that it will fit your needs prior to purchase.

It is an extremely versatile device. I have an older Dodge radio with an aux port.I can load music from my phone from the USB C, and flip it around and plug it in!I love it! It looks cool, too!

Avoid purchasing at all costs is what I wish the headlines said. It really pays to read the reviews before purchasing items. I had the same experiences as other 1 star reviewers. I took it out of the box, and plugged it into my surface 8, didn't work. Plugged it into my windows computer, it said it had to be formatted but was unable to format. Plugged it into iMac, but the iMac could not read/mount it, plugged it into my Linux, Linux of all things could not find the drive to read it. Sent it back to the sellers, they replaced the item with one that was discoverable on all drives. I quickly went about saving my 350GB worth of data from one bulky external flash to this portable sleek number thinking I was being progressive. Then when I opened the thumb drive, all the flies I had copied were no longer visible. The folders were empty. Was really hoping to finally have a drive that I could easily use with my surface without extra peripherals but alas this was wasted potential. Waste of time. Wasted effort. Just a General WASTE! Its utter trash. Oh and bonus, I lost all my files that were copied/back-up to this drive. They virtually disappeared after just saving to the device within a 24 hours period. All 350GB of data gone.

I am so thrilled I bought this as I was able to clear off my phone and forward all pictures to this USB drive.

Not a techie nerd so need more info on best use. Otherwise, seems to be well made and storage capacity great. Well priced.
