Overall I like this refill. It is is crisp black that has great contrast. As I heard someone else say, it is a “juicy” black. And I think that sums it up perfectly. My only complaint is that it often takes a bit to get started. If you’re trying to be careful writing it can take a few strokes to get the ball rolling (Mainly if you’re using lighter than normal writing pressure). This causes a lighter thinner line. The juicy black kicks unexpectedly and can cause your writing to look messy. But once writing especially for longer notes and letters, it is very smooth and consistent.

I love my Waterman Pen,...but I ordered some fine point refills and I just got use one of them and it's not fine, it really looks and feels like a medium point. I not much for medium so I think the package or refill were mixed up... I bought this some years back and I finally got to open a new package, to my disappointment.

I am happy that they are still making these refills. They are great writing nice and smooth.
