OTR truckers dream
The media could not be loaded. I wanted to wait before I gave this review, unsure of what I ordered. I got the 62qt dual zone for $740 plus a 5 year warranty for $132 and tax of $55. This is bye far the best fridge I ever owned. (one year review still to come) I bought this in the 1st week of August 2019. For me it was a big task to put it in, it involved removing my passenger chair and making a brace to keep it from sliding forward. (Check out pics and video)I knew this was going to be coming in that day, so I picked up some ice cream to try it out, it comes with ac cord and a dc cord for your cigarette plug. I plugged in the cigarette cord,(not a good choice). The next day I went out to get my ice cream and I noticed the freezer temperature was still reading around 33, I was pissed off, I had just took out my seat shored it all up and then this happened, I was ready to box it up and send it back. This is something I’m telling you do you don’t make the same mistake, good thing I didn’t fill it up with groceries, but just ice cream. When you get this plug in both ac and dc cords. I’m writing this review in September, so a month later. I woke up this morning to all my lights off. I had taken out my dc to use it for something else and forgotten to put it back and later that night I turned off my ac power forgetting that I never plugged back in the dc plug. The next morning I noticed that it was off, it was 33 in the freezer and 50 in the cooler they normally are at -2 and 37. So I did a test to see how long the freezer would get back to temp and it was almost 42 min. Never opened it,just turned on the ac power. Now when going down the road the dc has enough power to maintain rather then using your power inverter. (Saves your inverter by turning it off) (watch video)This is how I broke down the high cost of the unit. A bag of ice a day was costing me around $3 including tax. Not including the foods I was losing due to not being kept cold. So an easy math using a 28 day cycle is 3 x 28 = 84 x 12 = $1,008 a year for ICE. Plus I gained a freezer which is a game changer. My wife cooks healthy meals that I can freeze then heat up. I can have ice cream. No more unhealthy fast foods. More of what you want. The one downside to this is the larger space is taken up bye the compressor which eliminates useable space.I can get 2 weeks or more of food to store.

As advertised
Purchased for our sailboat. Works beautifully except for a finicky control panel. We bought this in October 2021. Some of the reviews listed issues with the control panel. Works great on AC. Touchy on DC. The DC plug is cumbersome and tends to come loose in the socket. Big issue since it's intended to be used in moving, vibrating vehicles/vessels. Another issue is incorrect voltage reading. My monitors will show 12.3 to 14 volts. Verified by Simpson volt meter The fridge will sense typically a full 1.5 volts lower which triggers a shut down which is also where the bigger problem arises. When ref senses 10.5 volts the unit will shut down. It's supposed to restart when the voltage returns to (I think) 11 volts. We returned from a 5 day trip. Batteries were fully charged. Display was on. Control panel indicator showed full battery charge but ref side was at 63° F and Freezer side was at 45°. It did not turn itself back on.Called Amazon support (90 days free with ref purchase) and they immediately took care of the issue. No problem with the new unit so far but haven't used the DC power side much just yet.In summary. This unit does everything we needed, wanted and expected when it's working properly. Love what it does and overall performance. It's unbelievably quiet and built solid. The interchangeable dual zone is perfect for us because sometimes we need a bigger ref than Freezer. This gives us the option to switch sides. The autoswitching from AC to DC means we don't need to remember to switch from DC to shore power. It remembers for us.We will soon wire our unit directly to DC (a minor modification) to overcome the tendency for the plug to come loose..Cons:No on/off switchCumbersome DC plugFinicky controllerPros:QuietAC/DC operation automatically senses and switchesInterchangeable dual zoneSolid constructionLighted compartments

Well engineered
I liked the fact you plug both battery and the AC into the fridge at the same time .That way when you turn the car off the fridge still runs . I have it plugged into an inverter which the fridge recognizes that the energy source is AC . I also have it connected to a 12 volt battery that delivers 210 ah so that when the car is turned off the battery just kicks in .No thinking about the fridge as to whether it is still running.I can you use the dual zone fridge as all refrigerator or one side as a freezer.

Marine - Whynter FM-85G
What can I say. We purchased this unit in early June 2014 to put on our boat for our trip to Alaska. We powered it off our AC inverter system and set it up with a timer to only run during the day while we were underway. We left home with it approx. 2/3 full of pre-frozen dinners etc. Shortly after we started our cruise we were lucky and added a couple of salmon at which time it was absolutely full. For the next 6 weeks it performed flawlessly. On our return home in mid August it was full of fish we caught on the way back and to date it is still plugged in at home beside our residential freezer. It froze all of our fish quite rapidly and rock hard. The unit seems to be well insulated and the controls are easy to use. I haven't used it on DC so cannot comment on that but I would highly recommend this unit to anyone with freezing needs while on the road or water. If I have a bad experience I will update my comments but I am not expecting any problems. Oct 2014.

Amazingly working well
I bought this to transport BBQ meat to farmers' market. I have been using it for 4 months now and so far so good. Passed food inspection with no problem as it keeps the temperature below the requirement (38F).

Amazing 12 volt Fridge/Freezer
Absolutely love this. Works amazing and after a long weekend plugged into my semi still had more than enough battery to keep it running and also start the truck

The handles are still fine but I wouldn't load it up and move it ...
This was used as a freezer for two weeks in 30 degree centigrade heat. It had no problem keeping the temperature I set of 4 degrees Fahrenheit. The end of the 12v plug fell apart after 1 week and needed to be replaced. The handles are still fine but I wouldn't load it up and move it with the handles.
